Chapter 40

Noah

We stood outside the pack house in formation, awaiting the Alpha King’s arrival. It took every bit of willpower to walk away from Envy’s bedside. My Dad had to Alpha command Levi to leave, saying it was the duty of the future Alphas to greet their Kings properly. The first of the three cars pulls into the driveway with the royal family sign on little flags on top of the bonnets. They pull up directly in front of us, and a guard steps out first to open the door of the second car. The aura in the air shifts dramatically as Alpha King Malachi, Alpha King Julius, and then Alpha King Arztec step out. All of our heads are forced to bow in submission to their powerful aura. It’s practically, impossible and very painful to try to fight it.

“Alpha Kings. Welcome to the Red Moon Pack.” My father steps forward with his head lowered as the rest of us say in sync, “Welcome, Alpha Kings.”

Alpha King Malachi steps forward first. “Rise, Alpha Charles.” He holds out his hand for my father to shake, and immediately the aura is softened so we may all raise our heads. It’s considered an insult to look an Alpha King in the eye unless requested to do so, so we wait in turns as each Alpha King shakes our hand and we personally welcome them to our home.

“My mate has prepared a breakfast feast for your arrival.” My father says after the pleasantries, holding out his arm to offer them inside our packhouse.

“Breakfast can be had after we meet the future Luna.” Alpha King Julius states firmly, and my father nods

his head.

“Very well. Right this way.”

My brothers and I follow behind the Alpha Kings as my father leads them through our wing and to Envy’s bedroom. We all file into the bedroom that feels a lot smaller now that so many large Alphas are inside. My brothers and I stand on one side of our sleeping beauty while the Alpha Kings go to the other side. They all look upon her sleeping face with wide eyes before turning to each other and speaking through mind link.

“She looks just like her.” Alpha King Arztec whispers, dropping all royal formalities and acting like he did when we were in training camp together, where we acted simply as friends.

“Like who?” I ask, tilting my head at Envy.

“Like our mother.” Alpha King Julius answers. “Look into her mind, Malachi.”

Alpha King Malachi raises his hands above Envy’s head, not touching, just hovering over her. He closes his eyes and grunts and mumbles something I can’t understand before taking his hands back and looking at his brothers.

“What did you see?” Alpha King Arztec asks the question we all want to know the answer to.

I gasp along with everyone else in the room.

“The actual Moon Goddess?”

“Goddess blessed,” Levi whispers under his breath beside me.

“Is she okay?” Xavier questions.

“She is. The Moon Goddess knows you are concerned with your mate. She will return to us soon.”

“How soon?” Haiden probes as Alpha King Malachi looks down on our mate. Before he can answer that question, Envy’s eyes fly open and lock with Alpha King Malachi’s. All three Alpha Kings let out their menacing aura, forcing everyone in the room to bow and submit, but from the corner of my eye, I see it’s not affecting Envy. She stares straight into Malachi’s eyes unflinching.

His hands go back above Envy’s head as he closes his eyes, and when they reopen a moment later, I feel him let down his aura, the other two following suit as we all stare at the two of them.

“You’re alive.” He breaths out.

“Am I?” She questions, tilting her head to the side and then spotting us. She gasps and tries to reach for me, but the three Alpha Kings growl and their aura seeps out, forcing me backwards. I try to growl back, but it’s stuck in my throat as the pain from trying to fight the submission sets into my bones.

“Hey! Let go of my mates, you big oaf!” Envy yells, poking Alpha King Malachi in the chest.

My eyes go wide. Holy fuck. Did she really just yell, command, and poke an Alpha King?

My father starts, “Alpha Kings, I apolo-” He’s cut off by the roaring sound of laughter from all three Alpha Kings as the aura is once again dropped. I quickly reach for Envy’s hand and hold it to my face. Throughout the laughter, Alpha King Julius slaps Alpha King Malachi on the back, wiping away a tear of laughter.

“I told you she was going to give you hell, didn’t I?”

Alpha King Marcus looks at Envy with a wide smile. “I welcome the hell you bring, little sister.”

“I’m sorry, what now?” Envy gasps. “My gods.” She rubs her temples and looks back around the room.

“I knew you were alive! I told you all I could feel it.” Alpha King Arztec pats his chest. “In here, I knew.”

“I’m just going to try and put two and two together here. You guys must be children of the mother whose womb I was ripped from?”

Alpha King Malachi takes her hand with a mournful look. “We are your brothers, yes. I’m Malachi, this is Julius and Arztec.”

My mind is still stuck on that one sentence. “You were what now, little Luna?” I question.

She turns to me with a soft smile. “I think there’s a lot we all need to talk about.”

Alpha King Malachi turns to my father. “I think now would be a good time for that feast, Alpha Charles.”

My father’s eyes glaze over, probably telling Mum, and then he smiles and nods.

Envy starts to get out of bed, and I hover with my arms out in case she falls.

“I’m okay, really. I feel better than ever.”

“Okay, little Luna, but some of us have been less than okay while we’ve waited for you to wake up.”

I nod to Levi beside me, and he lowers his head with a look of pure disappointment.

She gets up and places her hands around his face.

“Hey. That was some pretty bad ass moves you pulled back there.”

“I let you down.” He pouts.

“No, you didn’t. You literally put your life on the line for me, and I will never forget that sacrifice. You’re my warrior, thank you.” She pulls him down for a soft kiss, and Hawk whimpers, making her laugh.

“Alright, everyone, come get your kisses now because I feel like we’re in for a long breakfast.”
