Chapter 99 Feeling Like a Scumbag
In Fergus‘ eyes, Gideon was nothing more than some random pretty face. He could still beat someone like that.
Yet, he lay curled up on the ground a minute later, feeling like his body was about to come
apart.
Why was this pretty face so good at fighting?
Gideon looked at Nancy. “Have you called the police?”
“No.”
He immediately took out his phone to call the police. “I’ll do it.”
Fergus panicked instantly. “I’m your older brother, Nancy! How could you get the police to arrest me?”
Nancy couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to him.
Soon, the police arrived to take Fergus and the two men away.
As Nancy and Gideon walked out of the police station after having their statements taken, she noticed the crease between his brows. It gave away that he was fighting back pain. She couldn’t help but worry.
“Take off your clothes,” she ordered.
Gideon hesitated, gazing at her. “That’s not a good idea, is it? We’re still outside.”
Nancy seemed to realize what he was thinking, and her expression darkened slightly. “I just want to look at your wounds.”
“Let’s get in the car first.”
After they got into Gideon’s Rolls–Royce, he took off his suit jacket and unbuttoned his shirt with his slender fingers. Then, he slowly took the shirt off, revealing a strong, toned back.
Nancy immediately saw the bruise on his back.
She touched it, her heart aching at the sight. “Does it hurt?”
“A little.”
“You have a first–aid kit at home, right?”
“Yes.”

“In that case, let’s head back to your place first. I’ll help you apply some ointment to it.” “Let’s go,” Gideon instructed Corey, who made a sound of acknowledgement.
As Corey drove off, his lips twitched with the effort of holding back a smile. Gideon was perfectly capable of suppressing Fergus, but he hadn’t done that. Instead, he’d taken a blow from him instead. His thought process was as clear as day!
Who would’ve thought a man could be so calculating in this aspect, too?
They soon arrived at Gideon’s house, and Nancy applied ointment to his bruise with a serious expression.
When her soft fingers caressed his skin, Gideon tensed slightly.
Suddenly, he felt that asking her to apply ointment for him was a form of torture.
After Nancy was done applying the ointment and had put it away, she told him, “It’d be better if you don’t shower today, in case your injury becomes infected.”
Gideon looked at her. “Okay, but what happened today?”
Nancy replied, “I was suddenly knocked out after leaving the team–building dinner today. Fergus probably realized the land he bought wasn’t worth anything. So, he wanted to exchange projects with me.”
“How childish,” Gideon said with disgust, after which he looked gently at Nancy. “You should be more careful in the future, then. Someone like Fergus won’t take this matter lying down.”
“Yes. You were the one who arranged for that person to match Fergus‘ bids and raise the price of the land today, weren’t you? Do you hold a grudge against him?” Nancy asked curiously.
Gideon replied, “No, I did it for you.”
As he spoke, he stared quietly into her eyes. Nancy suddenly felt her face heat up and looked away quickly, feeling flustered.
“I see. Thank you.”
“Well, I noticed that you’ve been very busy recently. I wondered if it was because you were troubled over issues with the Lidells again, so I decided to teach Fergus a little lesson,” Gideon elaborated unhurriedly.
Nancy instantly felt guilty.
She’d deliberately kept Gideon at arm’s length, yet he hadn’t just been considerate toward her but had even rescued her. When she compared herself to him, she felt like such a scumbag.
“What’s wrong?” Gideon asked gently, noticing her conflicted expression.

“…” Nancy trailed off. She had no idea how to respond.
In the end, it was Gideon who approached the topic first. “Did your father say something? Did he not want us to have any contact with each other?”
