Chapter 95 They Are Just Siblings
Even Christopher couldn’t stand listening to Raine and Fergus anymore.
He tapped his head to make a point. “If you have an issue up here, I suggest you see a doctor sooner rather than later, Ms. Lidell.”
He and Nancy then located their seats and sat down.
“Those two idiots still don’t believe us! It’s alright, Raine. Once the auction is over, you to see Mr. Moore. We’ll tell them you’ve already severed ties with our family,” said Fergus.
Raine looked longingly at him. “Okay. I’ll miss you, Fergie.”

Fergus felt a pang in his heart. “I’ll miss you too, Raine.”
However, another thought soon rose to his mind.
If Raine became a daughter of the Moore family, she’d no longer be legally related to him. Would they then be able to…
He immediately shook his head. No, they were siblings. How could they?
Everyone took their seats one after another.
Nancy saw Gideon a short distance away from her. It seemed he had also arrived.
Soon, the auction began.
“This auction will proceed via a bidding process, and the minimum increment will be 100 thousand dollars,” explained the auctioneer, Scott Frolich.
The first plot of land up for auction appeared on the big screen, and he continued, “This is Plot No. 109 in the Western District, located-”
At the mention of the Western District, people started raising their hands.
“Eight million dollars!”
“Nine million dollars!”
Soon, people had successfully bid on the first few plots of land from the Western District.
As Fergus watched several projects he’d been optimistic about slip away before his eyes, he gradually became anxious.
“There’s one more, Fergie. It’s the best project in the Western District. Don’t worry. If you secure this project, you’ll definitely be able to come out on top in the succession battle,” Raine said comfortingly.

Since she was no longer a member of the Lidell family, she didn’t care about the succession battle anymore, though.
Fergus‘ eyes gleamed with determination. “Okay.”
Scott continued to introduce the next auction item. “Next up is Plot No. 190. This plot-”
Fergus raised his hand immediately. “15 million dollars!‘
Other people started calling out their bids soon after him.
“20 million dollars!”
“21 million dollars.”
“32 million dollars.”
The bidding price soon reached 70 million dollars.
Everyone probably felt that land in the Western District would bring them unlimited profit, so they were incredibly bold with their bids.
Fergus hesitated once more.
The appraiser he consulted believed that this plot of land was worth 100 million dollars at
most.
If he won the bid at 70 million dollars, then it would cost him 80 million dollars after including construction costs.
However, if he didn’t win this bid, he would be out of options.
He gritted his teeth and raised his hand. “75 million dollars!”
Still, someone matched his bid. “So million dollars!”
“85 million dollars!” Fergus called out.
The same person matched his bid again. “90 million dollars!”
Everyone went quiet. Although they thought that this plot of land was decent, the bidding price was quickly catching up to its market value. Nobody wanted to engage in unprofitable
business.
Nancy looked over as well and saw a man in a hat competing with Fergus. She noticed the faint smile on his face and immediately understood the situation. The man was probably doing this
on purpose.
Blissfully unaware, Fergus was beside himself with anger.

Which idiot was it who was calling such high bids?
As he was feeling extremely irritated, he saw that the man had turned to glance at him. The latter’s eyes were filled with contempt and challenge, which immediately stoked Fergus‘ rage.
“90 million dollars, going once. 90 million dollars, going twice,” Scott called out. “Do we have any higher bids?”
“95 million dollars!” yelled Fergus.
“100 million dollars,” the man said almost immediately afterward.
“110 million dollars!” Fergus shouted without the slightest hesitation.
Even Raine was frowning slightly at this point. She tugged on Fergus‘ sleeve and said, “How about you just let this one go, Fergie? It’s too expensive. Even if you win the bid, you won’t make any profit off it anymore…”
“Since that fellow is willing to pay such a high price to get it, it means this plot of land must be of great use,” replied Fergus.
When he looked over at the hat–wearing man and saw him hesitating, he smiled faintly.
In the end, the man raised his hand once more. “115 million dollars.”
