Chapter 94 Auction

Ian frowned in displeasure.

Why do you look so serious?asked Freya. The fact that Gideon likes Nancy just proves that she has impeccable charm!”

Ian replied grimly, You have no idea how cruel and decisive Gideon is. If he really does like Nancy, that’s fine. I’m just afraid he has ulterior motives!”

Following his explanation, Freya also became slightly nervous.

Ian instructed Nancy, You must keep a distance from Gideon, Nancy. He’s incredibly dangerous.”

Okay, Dad,Nancy said agreeably. She paused, then couldn’t resist asking, Are we not even allowed to be friends, then? Us being friends might be more beneficial to both our families.”

It’s okay to be friends on the surface, but don’t open your heart to him. He might pull one over on you before you know it,Ian replied solemnly.

Nancy could only nod in response.

The car moved along slowly. Nancy watched the receding scenery through the window as the night sky gradually darkened.

After arriving back home, she received a message from Gideon.

Have you gotten home?”

She reflexively moved to reply, but then recalled Ian’s words and ended up putting down her phone.

She only replied to the message the next morning.

She assumed Gideon wouldn’t send her any more messages, but he unexpectedly replied

immediately.

Were you tired last night? You went to bed so early.”

He thought she hadn’t seen his message.

Nancy tightened her grip on her phone, but eventually, she put it back down.

She only responded to the newest message that afternoon.

Gideon still replied immediately. Are you very busy today?”

Naturally, Nancy didn’t plan on replying to him.

Chapter 94 Auc

Half an hour later, Hannah walked in with a box of cake. Someone sent you a cake, Ms. Moore! It looks like it’s from a patisserie. Those cakes are especially expensive! And they also need to be ordered in advance!”

Nancy opened up the cake box and saw some lettering on it.

Remember to rest. Be happy.”

She felt quite conflicted.

Looking into Hannah’s expectant eyes, Nancy said, Cut up the cake and give everyone a piece. You can leave just one slice for me.”

Sure thing!”

Hannah immediately cut up the cake, and Nancy took a slice for herself. She took a bite, and it practically melted in her mouth. It was indeed made of highquality cream.

She gazed at Gideon’s message, but she ultimately didn’t send a reply.

Soon, the muchanticipated auction was held.

Guests arrived at the venue one after another. There were many who gathered to snoop for information under the guise of small talk.

Nancy and Christopher attended the auction together. There, they encountered Raine and

Fergus.

They had dolled themselves up quite nicely, but Raine’s attitude was even more arrogant than before. She looked at everyone else condescendingly.

When she saw Nancy, she asked, Is Mr. Moore not attending?”

Nancy ignored her and walked toward her own seat. Fergus immediately thought of dragging Nancy back. However, he suddenly remembered his previously broken wristwhich had hurt terribly when set properly—and thought better of it.

Instead, he said harshly, Raine’s talking to you, Nancy. Are you deaf?”

Do I have to pay attention to her just because she’s talking to me?Nancy retorted with a distant expression.

Fergus scoffed, looking arrogant and contemptuous. You’ll regret your attitude sooner or later, Nancy. It looks like you’re still unaware that the Moore family has their eye on Raine.”

Nancy immediately stopped walking when she heard this.

Fergus became even more smug at her reaction. The Moores have been helping Lidell Group all this time because they want to adopt Raine. Raine is going to become a member of the Moore family soon. It’s too late for you to curry favor with her now!”

Nancy simply gazed at them with a complex look in her eyes.

Raine touched her own newly manicured nails and said coquettishly, You won’t have to worry about me affecting your life in the Lidell family from now on, Nancy. Even after I move into the Moore residence in Boraska, you can still tell me if you ever need my help.”
