Andrew was confused as well. “What’s going on? If it wasn’t because of Raine, then could it be that they simply thought that Lidell Group had potential?”
“I don’t think so. The projects they’ve collaborated on have never made a profit, so how could their actions be for the sake of Lidell Group?” asked Fergus.
Then, his eyes lit up at a sudden thought. “Say, Mom and Dad, do you think they might have felt uneasy about Raine having a family? Apparently, the daughter they adopted was an
orphan.”
Andrew thought about it seriously. “That might well be the case. If I were in their shoes, I’d
feel uneasy too.”
“What do we do, then? Are we supposed to publicly sever ties with Raine?” Regina asked, only to shake her head immediately afterward. “No, we can’t.”
“That’s nothing if it means Raine will be able to join the Moore family, Mom. It’s not as if
we’d really be severing ties with her,” Fergus reasoned.
Raine added softly, “In my eyes, you’ll always be my parents.”
Regina was so moved that she looked at Raine with tears in her eyes. She felt extremely reluctant to part with Raine, but the thought of the Moore family’s wealth and prestige eventually convinced her to nod in agreement.
Ian and Freya returned to the CEO’s office with stormy expressions.
When Nancy asked them what happened, Freya told her about the Lindell family’s agenda.
Everyone in the office was rendered speechless.
Christopher exclaimed, “That family sure is confident in themselves! I think it’s only a matter of time before they go bankrupt.”
Ian nodded in agreement. “Indeed. Lidell Group hasn’t been seeing much progress in terms of development lately.
“Let’s continue our discussion about the auction project. This time, our biggest competitor is still Gideon Fuller. He’s come to Riversdale for the purpose of acquiring that plot of land. His goal may very well be the same as ours.
“Do you think we should shift our focus to alternative projects, Nancy?”
Nancy contemplated the issue seriously. “I think either option is fine. The best plot of land will be the last one put up for auction. Therefore, we’ll go all–out on the alternatives first.”

The day flew by in an instant, and night soon fell. Christopher proposed that he treat the Moores to a meal.
On the way to the restaurant, lan lamented, “It’d have been nice to get some insight into Gideon’s thoughts, but that brat is probably very busy right now.”
Just as those words left his mouth, their car stopped in front of the restaurant. As they got out of the car, they saw a familiar figure approaching them.
Gideon was wearing a black suit over a white shirt and almost seemed to shine under the glow of the street lamps. He’d also just gotten out of a Rolls–Royce.
His handsome, well–defined face was incredibly dazzling.
“Oh? What a coincidence, Mr. Moore. Are you here to have dinner as well?” he asked with a smile, his gaze penetrating.
Ian clicked his tongue inwardly. Enemies really were destined to meet when you least expected

“It certainly is a coincidence,” Ian replied calmly.
Gideon’s gaze slid over to Nancy, who was behind Ian, and his smile widened. “Nancy.”
Nancy remained calm. “Mr. Fuller.”
“Since we’ve encountered each other here, how about I treat all of you to a meal?” asked
Gideon.
“We couldn’t possibly impose on you,” replied Ian. He paused, then added, “Let us treat you to a meal instead, Mr. Fuller.”
“Alright. I’ll humbly accept your offer, then,” Gideon agreed with a chuckle.
Ian glanced at him.
Why did Gideon seem to be acting so strangely?
After entering the restaurant, Gideon sat next to Nancy. His familiar presence at her side caused her to become a little distracted.
When she accidentally dropped her fork and leaned down to pick it up, he beat her to the punch and retrieved it first.
