Chapter 89 Why Keep Working Together
Raine wondered if the couple at that window table were tan and his wife.
Andrew and Regina were considered wealthy people in Riversdale, but even they seemed lacking in comparison to that couple.
Raine felt more and more excited. She immediately checked over her appearance before giving some instructions to a waiter.
Freya was in the middle of spooning some vegetables onto Nancy’s plate. Nancy, who had her head down while scrolling through messages on her phone, said to her, “One of my designers has something to discuss with me. I’m going to take a call, Mom and Dad.”
“Okay. Go ahead,” Freya replied, looking lovingly at her.
Not long after Nancy left, a waiter placed a serving of dessert on the table. Seeing this, Freya said in confusion, “We didn’t order this.”
The waiter looked at someone a short distance away. “That young lady paid for it.”
Freya looked over and saw a young lady wearing a white dress. She looked innocent and pretty, but Freya frowned slightly at the sight of her.
Raine walked over and said gently, “Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Moore. I’m Raine Lidell from Lidell Group. I didn’t expect to encounter both of you here today. I’ve always been very grateful to you for helping Lidell Group.”
Raine Lidell? The Lidell family’s adopted daughter?
Freya’s face immediately fell. Was this the woman who had been treating Nancy badly?
Ian was used to all sorts of situations, so he didn’t show any outward reaction.
“How do you know about us?”
Raine smiled and replied flatteringly, “I just so happened to overhear Mr. Wentworth’s girlfriend talking about you. She mentioned that you were the two most dignified people in the restaurant, so I immediately recognized you.”
“Then, do you have any business with us?” Ian asked indifferently.
Raine could almost feel an invisible pressure from him. She couldn’t help but swallow. Was this what the domineering presence of a person from a top–class wealthy family felt like?
“Nothing much. I mainly wanted to thank Moore Group for taking care of us all this time,” Raine replied sincerely. “At the same time, I’d also like to ask why you haven’t been collaborating with us recently, Mr. Moore.

“If there’s anything we’ve done wrong, please let us know, and we’ll be sure to correct our
mistakes.”
“I’d also like to know why none of the projects we’ve collaborated on have turned a profit. What reason do we have to continue collaborating with you?” Freya asked in return.
Raine’s smile stiffened, and she felt rather awkward.
Of course, she was aware that those collaborative projects between Lidell Group and Moore Group’s subsidiaries weren’t turning any profit at all. It was because all the profits had gone to Lidell Group in its entirety.
However, this had always been the case, and Moore Group’s subsidiaries had still collaborated with them nonetheless.
Now that Ian had singled out that fact, Raine found herself quite speechless. After a few seconds, she said apologetically, “We apologize for disappointing you before, but we’ll definitely work harder in the future. I hope you’ll be able to give us another opportunity, Mr. and Mrs. Moore.”
She gazed at Ian and Freya with incomparable sincerity.
Unfortunately, Freya could see the ambition brimming in her eyes. She said coldly, Opportunities are earned, not given. We’re going to have our meal now, Ms. Lidell.”
Raine clenched her hands into tight fists, but she had no choice other than to leave first.
After she left, Freya didn’t bother concealing the disgust in her eyes. “How ambitious and hypocritical. The Lidells are truly blind to cherish a daughter like that.”
“Indeed, but Nancy will be returning with us soon.”
Raine didn’t immediately leave the vicinity of the restaurant upon walking away.
She thought it’d be great if she could attract Ian’s attention and get him to adopt her as his daughter.
Her mind raced.
Half an hour later, two familiar figures showed up outside–Ian and Freya.
Not long after she hurriedly hid behind a pillar, she saw them walking out of the restaurant. There was even a tall and beautiful woman at their side.
Raine was shocked to see that it was Nancy.
