Chapter 87 How About Marrying Me
“No way,” whispered Gideon. “How can two meals be enough?”
“However many meals you want, then,” Nancy replied, looking tearfully at him.
Gideon’s heart immediately softened. “Okay.”
He was thus shut in the closet once more.
Nancy changed into her pajamas, then opened the room door.
Freya gazed at her with a gentle smile, then led her to sit on the couch. “I haven’t seen you for a while, and you’ve become even more beautiful, honey.”
“You just like to praise me, Mom,” Nancy said with a smile.
Freya replied, “I’m telling the truth. You’re without equal, honey. You just don’t like drawing attention to yourself. Otherwise, that woman would never have been chosen the number one lady in Riversdale.”
“I don’t care about those empty titles.”
“Yes. Outstanding people wouldn’t care about those empty titles indeed,” Freya said cheerily.” However, you’re about that age now, Nancy. Has anyone caught your eye in recent years?”
Nancy immediately understood Freya’s intentions. “No, Mom.”
Freya pulled out a small booklet. “You’ve been throwing yourself into work, so of course you haven’t been able to meet someone you like. I’ve already found you some candidates.
“These men are all young, handsome talents based in Northsdale, and they come with good backgrounds too. Have a look.”
Nancy flipped open the booklet. She hadn’t expected Freya to have gone so far as to make a booklet on potential blind dates!
Freya chattered incessantly, introducing all the candidates to her. “Look. This man has a great personality. He’s gentle and good at taking care of others. I’d feel at ease if you were to get together.
“How about this one? He’s handsome, isn’t he? I wouldn’t consider any men who aren’t handsome. And look! This one isn’t bad either-”
A loud bang coming from the closet stopped Freya short.
Freya frowned. “It’s not a rat, is it?”
Just as she was about to stand, Nancy immediately pulled her back. “Ignore it, Mom. If there’s

a rat inside, I’ll catch it later. Let’s just talk about this first!”

As expected, she managed to distract Freya, who continued, “Have a look. Who do you think is better? How about you just go with Miguel Simmons? At the very least, you two are childhood friends and familiar with each other. The Simmons family has also been on the rise lately.”
Nancy’s expression dimmed slightly at the mention of Miguel’s name. “That’s all in the past, Mom. We don’t really keep in touch nowadays.”
“It’s alright. A relationship can be cultivated, after all.”
The two of them chatted for quite a while before Freya finally left reluctantly. Before leaving, she requested that Nancy think about the matter carefully.
Nancy could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
She then opened the closet door. Gideon was leaning against the closet wall, gazing at her with an unreadable expression.
“Are you being pressured to get married?” he asked with a wry smile.
“Yes, but your family is probably doing the same, right? You’re also at that age, after all.”
As soon as the words left Nancy’s mouth, Gideon’s expression seemed to darken slightly. It was only then that she realized she’d misspoken.
She added hastily, “I didn’t mean anything else by that. You’re currently in your prime, so you’re naturally in no hurry to get married, Mr. Fuller. I was just wondering if your family was pressuring you into marriage.”
“They all respect my opinion,” Gideon replied slowly, sounding as if he was hiding something. “So, do you want to get married?”
“Of course, I’ll have to.”
Gideon’s eyes instantly darkened. It felt like staring into a bottomless abyss.
Nancy continued, “However, I haven’t found someone to marry just yet.”
Gideon looked intently at her before suddenly asking, “What do you think of me?”
Nancy looked at him with a hint of surprise. “Are you being serious?”
“Do I look like I’m joking?” Gideon asked back.
Nancy gazed into his eyes and fell into deep thought.
Gideon added, “You and I know each other inside and out, at the very least. As for the conflicts between me and your father, I believe those will be easily resolved if I were to marry you.”
