Chapter 85 Dad and Mom Are Here

I’m not an idiot. I know how to feed myself,Nancy muttered indignantly, but she opened

the door for Gideon anyway.

Gideon walked into the kitchen and commented, It’s so clean. It seems you haven’t cooked in

here even once.”

Well, I’ve been too busy to cook,Nancy replied, following after him. Let me help you wash the vegetables.”

It’s fine. Just wait outside for me. I’ll be done in a moment,Gideon refuted, taking off his coat and hanging it on a nearby hook. Do you not have an apron?”

Nancy gazed at Gideon’s firm, sexy chest muscles through his white shirt. I don’t.”

Gideon narrowed his eyes. What are you looking at?”

Nancy turned and left, feeling a little guilty. Nothing. I’ll head out, then. Call me if you need

me.”

She ate some snacks to pass the time. A short while later, a fragrant aroma wafted out of the

kitchen.

Nancy watched as Gideon rolled up his sleeves, exposing his forearms. His muscles tensed with his movements, and he turned sexier the more she looked.

As she was admiring the sight of him cooking, she heard a sudden knock on the door.

She walked to the door and saw two people through the peephole who immediately caused her

to freeze.

Ian and Freya?

She immediately rushed into the kitchen and grabbed Gideon’s hand. You need to hide!”

What’s going on?Gideon asked in confusion.

My parents are here.”

If Ian and Freya were to see Gideon in her house, she didn’t dare imagine the consequences.

Gideon snorted lightly. What’s there to be afraid of? Just be honest with them.”

Absolutely not!Nancy exclaimed.

She turned off the stove before instantly dragging Gideon into her bedroom. After looking around, she finally opened the closet and instructed, Hide in here for a while.”

Gideon gazed at the closet, his expression darkening a little. You want me to hide in here?”

It’s an unexpected situation. Please?”

Nancy clasped her hands together imploringly, fearing that Gideon wouldn’t cooperate.

Gideon looked into her pleading eyes, then took a deep breath and ducked into the closet with a stormy expression. He squatted in a corner, the usually tall and imposing man looking rather aggrieved.

I’m really sorry about this. I’ll treat you to a meal next time, said Nancy.

She shut the closet door, then rushed to open her front door.

Surprise!Freya exclaimed, hugging Nancy with a smile.

Then, her eyes suddenly turned tearful as she asked, Why have you lost so much weight, honey?”

I haven’t, Mom. I’m eating proper meals,Nancy replied gently before looking at Ian. Things must’ve been hard on you and Mom, Dad. I just so happen to be in the middle of cooking. Please have a seat, and you’ll be able to have dinner in a while.”

Ian had also smelled the fragrant aroma in the air. Why are you cooking by yourself? Do you

not have a chef?”

I didn’t have much to do today, so I thought I’d cook myself dinner,Nancy explained with a smile, leading Ian and Freya into the house before walking into the kitchen.

As Freya and Ian explored her house, Freya glanced at Nancy, who was cooking in the kitchen.

I heard that the Lidell family is especially biased toward that adoptive daughter of theirs. Let’s bring Nancy home the moment the project ends, she said with an icy expression.

Alright,Ian said agreeably.

Fortunately, Gideon had been almost done with the cooking. Nancy put some simple finishing touches to the dishes before carrying them out of the kitchen.

Freya helped her set out the tableware. She was surprised to see the dishes Nancy brought out. I didn’t expect you to have become so good at cooking, Nancy.”

Nancy suppressed her guilt and replied, I’ve been cooking for myself often lately, so I’ve improved a lot. Have a taste, Mom.”

Freya took a bite of the food and immediately flashed her a thumbsup. It’s delicious. You’re truly amazing, honey.”

Ian praised her as well. “It certainly tastes pretty good. I’d say it’s on par with the dishes the

chefs at home make.”

Nancy spooned portions of the dishes onto their plates. Have some more since you like these, Mom and Dad.”

Freya’s eyes filled with distress at the sight of Nancy’s obviously thin face, and she said, Your Dad and I know all about the situation with the Lidells, Nancy. You should come back with us once the auction ends!”

Nancy said gently, I had no intention of hiding things from you, Mom and Dad. While it’s true that Andrew and Regina haven’t been very nice to me, Martha treats me really well.”
