Chapter 63 Raine Stirs the Pot 

The Lidells and Duran Corporation were currently collaborating on a project. That partnership came in the form of Duran’s CEO’s girlfriend. She was a singer with a decent following 

“I’m going to say hello,” Regina said, 

Raine chimed in, “I’ll go with you, Mom.” She wasn’t about to miss a chance to get to know someone wealthy. 

Regina greeted the blonde with a smile. “Ms. Shaw, it’s such a pleasant surprise to meet you in this restaurant. What a small world we live in.” 

Mirella Shaw looked at the mother–daughter duo, “Mrs. Liddell? What a coincidence indeed.” 

“Ms. Shaw, you’re looking, more gorgeous than ever.” Raine beamed, 

Mirella’s lips curved upward, and her voice softened, “Raine, I heard you’re competing in the piano competition the day after tomorrow. I’m rooting for you.” 

“I’ll do my best not to disappoint you!” Raine said brightly. Then, she noticed a photo on Mirella’s phone. While it was just the back of a woman, Raine recognized her figure instantly. It was Nancy, 

Raine was curious. “Ms. Shaw, you know Nancy?” 

Mirella’s expression shifted. She offered a quiet hum in response after a pause. 

Raine caught the flicker of emotion and shot Regina a quick look. Understanding what that look meant, Regina drifted back to their table as Raine leaned in. 

She started, “If something’s bothering you, Ms. Shaw, you can tell me. I know her pretty well, you see,” 

“Is that so?” Mirella asked. “I was wondering how she managed to land an executive position at Duran,” 

Raine froze. 

This did not go unnoticed by Mirella. “Raine, just be honest with me.” 

“Alright, I’ll tell you.” Raine sighed. “Nancy’s actually my long–lost sister. She was found not too long ago. I was happy to have her back at first, but I didn’t expect her to be such a disappointment. She’s being kept by a man!” 

“And that man is…” Mirella’s eyes narrowed. 

“Please don’t be upset, Ms. Shaw. I’m sure Mr. Wentworth still thinks the world of you,” Raine

said earnestly. She offered Mirella a look of concern.

Mirella’s face was red with fury. “That damned Nancy…” She gripped the table so tightly that her manicured nail snapped. 

“Ms. Shaw!” Raine gasped. “Calm down. Someone like her could only climb that far by using her looks. She’s nothing compared to you. Mr. Wentworth will get rid of her soon enough!” 

Pleased, Raine only added oil to the fire. When Mirella was visibly seething, she returned to 

her table. 

Regina asked, “What were you two talking about?” 

“Ms. Shaw was asking about my sister, so I accidentally told her that she was being kept by Mr. Wentworth…” Raine sighed. “I just couldn’t stand the thought of her being left in the dark. Mom, was that wrong of me?” 

“Is Nancy really a kept woman?” Regina’s disbelief quickly turned to disdain. She couldn’t fathom how else Nancy could have landed a department manager position at Duran Corporation. She was embarrassed to have such a daughter. 

“Calm down, Mom. She just lost her way for a while,” Raine said gently. “I believe that if she sees me shining on stage, she might want something better for herself. She might even turn 

her life around!” 

“Yeah. Raine, you really are my pride and joy.” Regina looked at Raine with pride. 

She was relieved to have adopted Raine. If Nancy were her only child, she would have died of 

embarrassment by now. 

The next day, Nancy spotted Gideon in the parking lot but chose not to call out to him. She got into her car and drove straight to the office. 

She had barely sat down when her door burst open. A woman stormed in, arm already raised to slap her. 

“Miss, what’s the meaning of this?” Nancy caught the woman’s wrist mid–swing, her gaze turning ice–cold. 

“You tell me! You’ve been flirting with my boyfriend!” Mirella spat, then snatched up a glass of water and flung its contents at Nancy. 

Hannah rushed in just in time to see Nancy drenched from head to toe. “Ms. Moore!” 

She shoved Mirella aside and grabbed tissues to wipe Nancy down. 

“What’s 

your problem?” Hannah snapped at Mirella.

“My problem?” Mirella scoffed. “Ask your boss what her problem is. She seduced my boyfriend!” 

“That’s ridiculous! Why would Ms. Moore need your boyfriend?” Hannah shot back. 

“Please. She owes her position to my boyfriend!” Mirella raised her voice. “Everyone, take a good look! This shameless woman seduced my boyfriend to get a managerial position at Duran Corporation!” 

Mirella’s announcement drew attention from the passing staff. 

“Isn’t she Mr. Wentworth’s girlfriend?” 

“Oh my God! Is what she’s saying true? Did Ms. Moore get her position because of Mr. Wentworth?”
