Chapter 56 An Unexpected Encounter with Raine and Regina

Okay,Nancy replied indifferently. It was obvious that she didn’t care at all.

Regina frowned slightly.

She could admit she had treated Nancy poorly at first without knowing the full story, but that was only because Nancy hadn’t told her anything.

Besides, she had already taken the initiative to try to get closer to Nancy, so why was Nancy still acting like this?

Remembering Andrew’s words, Regina swallowed her irritation and gently asked, Are you free tonight? Let’s go shopping. I’d like to buy you a few outfits.”

It’s fine, Mrs. Lidell,” Nancy replied.

Then, wearing a faint smile, she turned and left.

The sun outside was unrelenting, yet watching Nancy’s retreating figure sent a chill down Regina’s spine.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was a gulf between them she would likely never be able

to cross.

Back at Duran Corporation, Nancy met with Duran’s CEO to go over the upcoming bid.

Suddenly, her phone chimed with a notification.

Nancy swiped the screen open. She’d received a friend request along with a text message.

Nancy, it’s me, Irene Lidell. I’m so sorry. I couldn’t stop Wendy I hate that you had to go through

all that.”

Irene was Wendy’s assistant. According to what Nancy had found, Irene was the illegitimate daughter of the Lidells, with little standing in the household.

Nancy accepted the friend request.

Immediately, another message popped up.

Nancy, welcome home. Also, I really am sorry about what happened with Wendy.”

Nancy texted, That’s between Wendy and me. It has nothing to do with you.”

irene replied, But I knew what was happening and didn’t help you. I’m so sorry for that. Nancy, if you ever need anything from me in the future, just tell me.”

Staring at the message, Nancy thought to herself, So the Lidells can actually birth decent people?

She didn’t respond, only continued talking to Christopher

Then let’s tentatively go with Lot 178 When my dad gets here, we’ll inspect it agai

Chapter 56 An Unexpected Encounter with Raine and Regina

2/2

No problem, Ms. Moore,Christopher said with a smile.

Nancy got to her feet, only to accidentally bump into a glamorous young woman.

The woman gave her a quick onceover, her expression tinged with suspicion.

Finding the whole thing pointless, Nancy couldn’t be bothered to engage.

She strode off without another word and returned to her office. After wrapping up the last of her work, she noticed a message on her phone.

It was from the store manager of Riversdale QuaysDazzling Boutique.

Ms. Moore, the new dress you designed is already on display. I heard you’re in Riversdale. Do you want to take a look?”

Nancy replied, Sure. I’m free right now. I’ll be there in half an hour.”

When the message came through, the store manager excitedly said, Hurry up and get ready! Ms. Moore will be here in half an hour!”

After work, Nancy drove to Riversdale Quays.

She wasn’t familiar with the place, so she wandered around for a while.

Even after walking for quite some time, she didn’t find the store she was looking for. However, she

ran into two familiar faces.

Mom, you’re the best! This time, I’m sure that I’ll stun everyone at the finals!”

That coquettish voice was alone enough to make anyone’s skin crawl.

Nancy felt an almost overwhelming urge to leave, but Raine had already spotted her.

Nancy?Raine called out. Then, she hurried over, surprise flashing in her eyes before it quickly gave way to a look of sudden realization.

Nancy, I get it now. You never truly meant to turn Mom down, did you? That’s why you’ve been waiting here for her, isn’t it?”

Regina’s expression revealed a mix of emotions when she saw Nancy.

She said softly, If you want to buy clothes, you can just tell me directly. There’s no need to go about it in a roundabout way.”

Ranne looped her arm through Regina’s and said, Mom, don’t say that. We were at fault to begin. with, so it’s only natural she might be a little guarded.”

Nancy was already feeling a headache coming on, but she spotted Dazzling Boutique from the corner of her eye

So it was here the whole time Nancy was just about to head over when Raine approached her with a big smile on her face

Perfect timing, Hancy! Mom needs to buy a dress for the piano competition finals. Can you help me pick one out? Let’s shop at Dazzling. It’s right over there!”
