Chapter 55 The Truth Unveiled
Nancy’s beautiful features stayed perfectly still as she looked at Wendy, her gaze cool and unflinching–like someone standing on higher ground, holding all the power in the room.
Regina’s expression tightened as she realized what she was feeling toward Nancy.
Why would she think that way?
A flicker of admiration crossed Andrew’s eyes as well.
Nancy wasn’t just anyone. She was his daughter, and he could imagine her future, standing shoulder to shoulder with Raine. Perhaps she might even exceed Raine someday!
Cold sweat trickled down Wendy’s back. Nancy had pinpointed her allergen with a single glance!
“Wendy, why would you do this to Nancy? You two don’t share any grudges, do you?” Martha asked coldly.
Wendy instinctively glanced at Raine, who immediately said, “Wendy, this is because of Winter, isn’t it? She resented you after her product lost to yours.”
“Yes, it was Winter who forced me to do this. Grandma, the Seabournes are a powerful family in Boraska. They have influence everywhere. I simply couldn’t cross her!”
Wendy cried as she continued, “I’m the one who wronged Nancy. I’m really sorry, Nancy! But I was pushed into this. Please just forgive me this once.”
Deep down, she was seething. If it hadn’t been for that damned recording Nancy had taken, everyone wouldn’t be up in arms against her.
She had been hoping to use this opportunity to walk away with a hefty payout–taking down Nancy, boosting her own fame, and lining her pockets all in one go!
Now, she wasn’t even sure she could survive in the industry after this incident.
Nancy responded, “Is that so? If Winter forced you, then you should ask her to take responsibility.”
Wendy choked up as she said, “But the Seabournes are too powerful. How could I possibly stand against them…”
Raine looked at Wendy with pity, then turned to Nancy. “Nancy, your public image has already recovered. Can’t you give Wendy a way out? You could just say that the two of you had a disagreement and were playing a prank on each other. I’m sure the public would accept that.”
“Sorry I will do no such thing,” Nancy replied coldly.
Raine was stunned
Wendy’s eyes welled up with tears as she turned to Martha. “Then, I’ll bear the consequences myself. It’s just such a shame. I finally managed to find my footing in the entertainment industry, and now I might be forced out for good…”
Martha only said, “Serves you right”

Wendy choked up at that.
Watching from the side, Andrew suddenly understood why Martha favoured Nancy so much.
She was just like Martha!

“Wendy, this is your fault, so you can’t blame Nancy for it,” Andrew said with grave formality. Mom, their birthday is next month. I’m planning to announce Nancy’s return at the party. What do you think?”
Martha’s expression softened slightly as she replied, “Alright. Make it a proper occasion.”
“Of course, Mom. Nancy is my daughter. I would never treat her badly,” Andrew said with genuine sincerity.
Wendy couldn’t continue her meal anymore. She left the table in tears.
After the meal, Martha planned to rest as usual.
“Nancy, I have a villa nearby. Do you want to come with me?” Martha offered.
Nancy replied politely, “Thanks, Grandma, but I should head back. I have work to take care of at the company.”
“Alright. Take care,” Martha replied. Her tone toward Nancy was noticeably gentler now.
Once Martha left, Regina kept her gaze on Nancy.
Without saying a word, Nancy made for the door.
Regina couldn’t help but follow.
“Nancy,” she called out.
Nancy turned her head, meeting her gaze.
The midday sun spilled over Nancy’s flawless, delicate features. Her brows were perfectly shaped, and her eyes were deep and luminous.
She was really pretty, and she even outshone Regina in her prime.
Regina softened her tone as she said, “Nancy, I never expected Wendy to act that way. But at least the misunderstanding’s been cleared up. I’ll have a word with her later.”
