Chapter 44 Wendy and Skylar
“Well, you’ve got some nerve. I’ll be waiting!” Nancy said, clapping her hands with a sharp smile.
Wendy scoffed and hurried away.
After that incident, Wendy realized cosmetics alone weren’t enough. Once she got home, she deliberately found a way to trigger an allergic reaction on her face.
Wendy stared at her reflection to see that her skin was covered in red spots. She felt miserable,
but the thought of the large sum of money she was about to receive quickly erased her but the thought of the large sum
discomfort. She even made plans to hit the bar with her friends that night.
That evening, Nancy was deeply focused on researching projects for the upcoming bidding conference when her phone suddenly rang. It was Hillary.
“Damn it, Nancy, get over here! I just spotted that little bitch!”
“Who?”
“Wendy!”
Hillary’s voice was filled with anger, as if she were ready to fight at any moment. Nancy’s eyelid twitched. “Hillary, calm down. I’m on my way.”
She feared that if she didn’t show up, Hillary would really end up in a fight with Wendy.
About 15 minutes later, Nancy walked into Twilight Bar, the most popular and luxurious bar in the city, only to realize she was already too late.
On the ground floor, a crowd had gathered, watching the drama unfold.
Pushing her way through, Nancy saw someone pulling Hillary and Wendy apart. Both women looked disheveled, their hair in wild tangles, as if they’d just been in a brawl.
“Hillary! Are you okay?” Nancy hurried over.
Hillary shook her head. “I’m fine. I just couldn’t stand that bitch, so we fought.”
Wendy was furious. “There’s a problem with Duran Skincare, and I’m not even allowed to speak
the truth?”
Hillary shot back angrily, “Do you really think I don’t see what you’re trying to do? Pfft!”
Noticing people around them starting to take photos, Nancy quickly pulled Hillary aside. Suddenly, a gasp rippled through the crowd. “It’s Mr. Gibson!”
Everyone instinctively turned to look.
Skylar wore a red shirt with a subtle gradient pattern, paired with black trousers. He radiated a magnetic, roguish charm, carrying a distinctly noble and aristocratic air.
All the women were drawn to him.
The moment Wendy spotted him, her eyes immediately lit up. “Sky!”

Hillary nearly choked at the sound of that nickname, utterly disgusted. But she was surprised that the two actually knew each other.
Skylar really had no taste.
Wendy hurried over to him, her face painted with a look of distress. Then, she said in a sweet and soft voice, “Sky, thank goodness you’re here. I didn’t know what I would do without you.
“What’s going on?” Skylar’s voice was enticing, but his eyes betrayed no emotion as they casually flicked toward Hillary.
Hillary’s face tightened with irritation.
She cursed inwardly, for she hadn’t expected Skylar to show up.
Whispers rippled through the crowd.
“It seems like Hillary’s in trouble. I can’t believe Wendy actually knows Mr. Gibson.”
“Yeah, Hillary was way too impulsive.”
A bystander quickly pulled out their phone, eager to capture the moment and make a firsthand
report.
Skylar glanced back at them, a half–smile playing on his lips. “I don’t like being online. If word gets out about today, I’ll be a very busy man.”
The person holding a phone broke into a cold sweat and quickly slipped their device away.
But there was something unusual. Skylar often appeared in the news. Otherwise, how else would
he have built his reputation as a notorious playboy?
Nancy, meanwhile, breathed a sigh of relief. If news of tonight’s incident spread online, even if they could prove Wendy was slandering Duran Skincare, Hillary’s act of hitting someone wouldn’t
reflect well on her.
Wendy, however, was convinced that Skylar was on her side. Her smile widened, and her eyes sparkled with triumph.
“Sky, Hillary hit me!” she complained, leaning toward Skylar, her voice full of indignation.
