Chapter 38 Never Look Back
“Go back? Do you think Nancy would even take us?”
“I don’t know. But sooner or later, we’re going to get fired from here. Do you really think the secretary would dare talk to us like that on her own? That’s definitely coming from Winter.
“The people at Blossom Corporation are so arrogant that even if we wanted to stay, we couldn’t.”
Regret weighed on Rebecca’s voice. If she had never left Duran Corporation, the success they were celebrating now could have been hers. She could have been at the top of the industry.
Instead, she was on the brink of losing her job.
The room fell silent. Everyone knew Rebecca was right.
The next day, Nancy sat in her office, reviewing details about the upcoming Riversdale bidding conference on her computer.
It was the most significant event in years, with prime properties up for grabs. Another reason she wasn’t in a hurry to return to the Moore household was that Ian planned to take part in the bidding, and she wanted to help him identify promising plots.
She was fully immersed in work when Hannah stepped in and reported, “Ms. Moore, Rebecca and the others are here.”
Nancy frowned slightly. “Rebecca?”
“Yes. Should I ask them to leave?” Hannah asked.
Nancy considered for a moment before replying, “If I send them away, they’ll just come back. Let them in.”
A few moments later, Rebecca and the others walked in. They all looked at Nancy with strange expressions.
“Why are you here?” Nancy asked calmly.
Rebecca pressed her lips together before speaking, her tone hesitant. “We want to return to the company, but the CEO said you’re now our general manager and that we should come to you.”
She stepped forward, setting a gift box on the desk. When she opened it, a fine piece of gemstone gleamed inside. It was obviously valuable.
Nancy’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. “Are you trying to bribe me?”
“No. It isn’t a bribe, but a small token of our sincerity,” Rebecca replied awkwardly, forcing a smile that seemed more strained than warm.
“Ms Moore, we were immature before. Please, let us come back to work under you. I promise, this time we’ll give you our full support.”
Nancy only smiled in response.

Rebecca’s heart skipped a beat, a flicker of hope rising in her chest.
“No.”
Nancy’s single word left Rebecca and the others momentarily stunned.
“Ms. Moore, we didn’t realize just how capable you are. We had no idea you were this incredible. Please, just give us another chance!” someone pleaded.
Rebecca quickly chimed in, “Ms. Moore, we know we made a mistake. But you also know hiring new staff won’t be as easy as keeping experienced ones like us, right?”
Nancy replied leisurely, “Let me correct you. You don’t regret what you did. You’re just desperate, as you have nowhere else to go. Let me guess… Now that our company has crushed Blossom’s performance, Winter is furious, and she’s taking it out on you.
“This isn’t surprising at all. No one would like fair–weather people like you guys.”
Her words were like sharp needles, piercing straight into each of them.
Their faces flushed with shame, and some even had tears in their eyes.
“Nancy, do you really have to be so heartless?” Rebecca bit her lip. “We only did what we did because we didn’t want the company to fail!”
“Spare me the excuses. If you’d had a better choice, would you have even thought about coming back?” Nancy’s voice turned icy, her commanding presence so strong they couldn’t bring themselves to look her in the eyes.
Since there was no hope left, Rebecca muttered under her breath, “Nancy, you’ll get what’s coming to you.”
One by one, they walked out with their spirits crushed.
Nancy didn’t spare them a second thought.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Hillary.
“My dearest darling, I’m in town on a business trip. Let’s have dinner tonight.”
