Chapter 23 Embarrassing Winter in Public

Winter burst out laughing. “You’re such a joke, Nancy. Didn’t I tell you to kneel and ask nicely? Why did you have to embarrass yourself like this? I’m taking this bracelet.”

Raine smirked. Seeing that the sales assistant had boxed up the bracelet, Winter reached out to take it. However, the sales assistant handed it to Nancy instead. “Miss, the bracelet has been paid for. Here you go.”

Nancy was puzzled, but she soon grasped the situation after giving it some thought.

Winter found the situation unacceptable. “What did you say? Who paid for it? Did you guys make a mistake?”

“It’s not a mistake,” the sales assistant responded firmly.

A look flickered in Raine’s eyes, and she whispered something into Winter’s ear.

“Really?” Winter asked in surprise.

“Without a doubt,” Raine replied, her voice low.

Winter glared at Nancy with growing contempt. “I didn’t expect you to stoop this low. What a disgrace.”

“You two are really the perfect pair. Nothing decent ever comes out of your mouths,” Nancy said coolly, casting them a dismissive glance before turning and walking away.

“You!” Winter was utterly livid, her eyes red with fury.

Unable to contain her curiosity, Raine asked, “Winter, how do

you

know Nancy?”

“She was quite the person back then.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Winter snorted. “Do you know the Moores?”

Raine’s heart skipped beat. She wondered if Nancy had something to do with the Moores.

“She did everything she could to cling to the Moores, but they kicked her out,” Winter stated with utmost disgust.

Raine instantly felt relieved because she had thought that Nancy might be related to the Moores.

“It seems like I was overthinking it. The Moore family is the most powerful family in Boraska–even the Seabournes can’t compare to them,” Raine thought.

“True. She is that kind of person. Don’t let someone like her ruin your mood, Winter. Let’s continue shopping,” Raine said with a smile.

Suddenly, Raine said, “By the way, I know a few skincare product researchers that Nancy fired. All of them are capable workers. You’re hiring, right? I’d like to recommend them to you.”

“Sure. We can meet up one day,” Winter replied.

Nancy dropped by a clothing store to buy some clothes for Ian. The sight of the ties made her suddenly think of Gideon.

Gideon had given her quite a sum to spend. He would refuse to take it if she returned it to him. Hence, Nancy thought of buying him something. At that thoughtshe began carefully choosing a tie.

Nancy spotted a navy blue tie with vintage embroidery in the middle. Just as she was about to take it, a hand snatched it away. She looked up to find a man around her age shopping for ties as well.

The man was well–dressed and decent–looking. Noticing Nancy’s gaze on him, he looked over. “Do you want it too?”

Nancy pondered for a while before she replied, “It’s okay. You got it first.”

“It’s fine. You can have it. It looks like you’re shopping for your dad?” asked the man, handing Nancy the tie and studying the set of clothes in her hands that suited the style of a middle–aged man.

Nancy couldn’t be bothered to clear up the misunderstanding. After thanking him, she walked away to settle the bill.

By the time Nancy had given lan and Freya the gifts, it was already late She arrived at Gideon’s door, placed the gift there, and left to wait for the

elevator.

It didn’t take long for the elevator door to open. A tall figure walked out in a cool mannerThe moment their eyes metboth of them were surprised. “Nancy?” Gideon’s deep voice rang out.

“I didn’t think you’d be home so early. Thanks for buying the bracelet for meThis is for you. I was shopping and thought this tie would look good on you, Nancy said, picking up the gift.
