Chapter 219 The WelcomeÂ
“Enough!” Martha screamed, slamming her palm against the bedside table. “Even if I die, Nancy will still be the successor. That will never change!”Â
Raine’s face twisted with frustration. “Grandma, how can you be so biased?”Â
“Biased? Nancy is the most capable of all of you. Are you too blind to see it?”Â
Raine nearly choked on her anger. She believed that Nancy was just lucky.Â
Still, if Martha insisted on throwing her life away, then Raine wouldn’t stop her.Â
A dark glint flickered in Raine’s eyes. If Marth died on the operating table, Nancy wouldn’t be able to inherit Lidell Group so easily.Â
“Fine, Grandma. If you trust Nancy so much, we’ll go with you to Boraska. Let’s hope the surgery goes smoothly,” Raine said.Â
“That won’t be necessary,” Martha flatly rejected.Â
“Martha, Raine is right,” Regina chimed in to say. “What if something happens to you? We should be by your side at such a critical time.”Â
Martha found their voices grating, and her patient was wearing thin. “All of you, get out. I need some peace and quiet.”Â
Regina still wanted to argue, but one look at Martha’s expression convinced her to swallow herÂ
words and leave.Â
Out in the hallway, Raine seethed. “Nancy is way too arrogant. Who on earth is she going to get to perform the surgery?”Â
Regina rubbed her temples, equally exasperated. She almost wished Hayley and the rest of her friends could see what the “perfect” Nancy was doing.Â
Did she think that surgery was child’s play?Â
Andrew’s eyes gleamed with calculation. “Since Nancy’s confident in her skills, let’s give her a chance. If she actually pulls it off, good for Grandma. But if she fails…Â
He grinned.Â
Public backlash would force her out of the company, and he would then take her shares for himself.Â
Lidell Group would belong to him alone.Â
Chapter 219 The WelcomeÂ
2/2Â
Nancy returned to Martha’s residence that evening and helped her pack her things. The next day, they boarded the flight to Boraska together.Â
Their plane touched down several hours later.Â
Just as Nancy and Martha emerged from the terminal, they ran into the rest of the Lidells.Â
“Mom, we were worried about you. It’s better if we come along, after all” Andrew said with a faux look of concern.Â
Martha didn’t bother to respond.Â
At that moment, a few men in sharp suits strode up to them. “Good afternoon. We’re here to pick you up. This way, please.”Â
They then took the luggage from theÂ
group.Â
Emma eyed the men. “Wow. Since when did taxi services get an upgrade?”Â
Raine’s eyes lit up, and she smiled with delight. “That’s because they’re from the Fuller family’s security team.‘Â
Nancy glanced at her in surprise. She didn’t think Raine would actually recognize them.Â
Raine flashed Nancy a proud look. “It must be Alex. He probably heard I was coming and sent them as a surprise.”Â
“Seriously? Raine, you and Alex are so sweet together,” Emma gushed.Â
Raine blushed. “I didn’t even tell him I was coming to Boraska. I can’t believe he’s been keeping an eye on me this whole time.”Â
Regina’s lips curved upward, and her gaze slid over to Nancy. She had to admit that Nancy was talented, but compared to Raine, marrying into the Fuller family still trumped everything else.Â
Andrew nodded in quiet approval. Raine really did know how to keep Alex wrapped around her finger.Â
“Grandma, let’s get going,” Raine said with a noble air as she ushered Martha forward.Â
They all climbed into the waiting cars. Before long, the large group arrived at a lavish hotel.Â
One of the suited men said, “We’ve already arranged your accommodations. Please have a good meal and get some rest. The hospital is just nearby.”Â
“Raine, Alex really went out of his way for you. We’re all benefitting from your fortune.” Emma smiled.Â
