Chapter 209 Be a Decent Human Before You Become a RacerÂ
“A woman?”Â
“Holy shit! A female racer is rare enough, but she’s actually really good.”Â
“Don’t tell me she’s Jordan’s girlfriend?”Â
Up in the stands, Skylar and Gideon both froze.Â
Skylar blinked in confusion. “I’m not hallucinating, am I? That’s Nancy?”Â
Gideon frowned. His eyes were firmly fixed on her figure.Â
Jordan looked at Nancy, his chest tightening with emotion. Suddenly, he stepped forward and hugged her tight.Â
His voice was choked with relief as he said, “Thank you.”Â
He had truly thought he was finished. If he’d lost, his team and the Murrays‘ name would’ve been dragged through the mud.Â
Luckily, Nancy had been there.Â
Nancy smiled. “You’ve got talent, so why did you suddenly lose control of the car midway through?”Â
“My hand’s injured. It’s healed significantly, but the nerves are still damaged. Whenever I push tooÂ
hard or tense up,Â
the pain kicks in. That’s why we’d put all our hopes on Fergus for the upcomingÂ
nationals.” Jordan sighed.Â
“Don’t count on him,” Nancy said flatly. “I can treat your arm.Â

Not far away, Skylar widened his eyes. Then, a grin spread across his face. “Well, well. Looks like Nancy and Jordan are awfully close. You’ve got competition, Gideon!”Â
Skylar had been jealous for a while now, watching Gideon flaunt his perfect relationship. Now, he finally had a chance to take a jab at him.Â
But Gideon’s face didn’t flicker. “You don’t get it. Jordan’s her cousin.”Â
“For real?” Skylar frowned, unconvinced. “Even so, they look way too close to be cousins.”Â
“Nancy makes her own choices. Don’t run your mouth,” Gideon replied flatly.Â
Skylar scoffed. He didn’t believe that Gideon wasn’t bothered by the two of them at all.Â
Meanwhile, the rest of the Murrays‘ crew members gathered around Jordan.Â
Yolanda’s gaze lingered on Nancy, conflicted. After a few seconds, she said, “Thank you.”Â

“You’re welcome.” Nancy smiled.Â
At this time, Bob finally crawled across the finish line.Â
Yolanda immediately turned and snapped at Fergus. “You owe us an apology!”Â
Everyone’s attention instantly shifted.Â
Fergus‘ face went pale, then flushed red. His eyes flicked to Nancy, and his lips twitched like he wanted to speak.Â
Finally, he exhaled sharply. “Fine, I’ll apologize. But I’m not going back to your team. Tell me how much money you want, and I’ll pay you instead.”Â
“Perfect. I don’t need you anyway. Just pay the penalty for the contract breach. It’s 20 million dollars, in case you forgot.” Jordan sneered.Â
“20 million? Are you insane?” Fergus barked. “That’s daylight robbery!”Â
“Why don’t you check your contract?” Jordan shot back. “Or is Riversdale too cheap to cover the penalty?”Â
Spectators piled on.Â
“He should pay up. The Murrays built his career in the first place!”Â
“Exactly. If Fergus dodges this, he’s nothing but ungrateful trash.”Â
“Learn to be a decent human being before you become a racer!”Â
The pressure mounted.Â
Fergus turned to Nancy at this moment. “Pay the penalty for me, Nancy. We’ll call it even and patch things up after.”Â
Nancy blinked. “What are you talking about?”Â
“I know you’ve got money,” he snapped. “Look, I’ll admit that you’re talented. Cover this for me, and I’ll recognize you as my sister again.”Â
“You’re sick,” Nancy shot back coldly, brushing him off.Â
She then turned to Jordan. “Don’t worry if he doesn’t cough up the money. Tomorrow’s headlines will be about him. Once the papers hit the shelves, he won’t survive nationals without being dragged through the mud.”Â
Jordan’s expression softened. “Got it. Thank you.”Â
“I’m leaving,” she replied.Â
Just like that, Nancy left the track. She wanted to rest as she had work the next day.Â
Fergus, on the other hand, had no choice but to scrape together the 20 million to pay the Murrays.Â
The Riversdale racing team doubled their expectations of Fergus. “You’d better make this worth it, Fergus. We expect you to get first place in the upcoming nationals.”Â
“Yeah, we’re investing a fortune in you!”Â
Fergus felt the weight of it but puffed his chest, brimming with confidence. “Relax, I’ll win for sure. I’ve been studying Anne’s racing videos nonstop. I’ve figured out how she pulls off her moves.”Â
