Chapter 193 Wendy Publicly Targets Hillary

Natalie took a long time to steady herself before turning back.

The screenwriters around her stayed silent, but she knew exactly what was on their minds. They had to be thinking she was pathetically trying to curry favor with Skylar.

She sank into a chair with her eyes closed as if to rest, though her fingers were clenched tight.

Nancy had already been kicked out of the Moore household, yet Skylar was still chatting with her. Natalie was a top screenwriter now, and he’d just brushed her off!

The indignation building inside her was about to burst out.

By then, the celebrities began to trickle into the hall.

Nancy held her phone, watching the live feed of them walking the red carpet. After a few celebrities made their entrance, Hillary finally stepped onto the red carpet.

She was in a fiery red gown, looking bold, sultry, and glamorous. Her stunning features lit up the carpet, and for a moment, the live stream viewers fell silent before flooding the chat room with

comments of awe. But just as quickly, the praise was buried under a wave of hate.

“Hillary really has no shame. She actually showed up!”

“Sure, she’s gorgeous, but does that make it okay to be a homewrecker?”

Nancy sensed someone’s breath beside her and turned to see Skylar staring at her phone screen, completely absorbed. A few seconds later, realizing she had caught him, he quickly looked away, masking himself with nonchalance.

Nancy’s lips twitched.

Why did some people insist on hiding their feelings?

One by one,

the celebrities took their seats. And soon after, the award night officially began, with

awards being handed out.

Photographers lined the hall, taking pictures nonstop.

Meanwhile, Hillary sat upright with her eyes fixed on the stage.

But for some reason, one photographer lingered beside her, snapping nonstop for several minutes.

She frowned and glanced at him, raising a brow as if to ask what his problem was. At an event like this, photographers usually moved around, yet this one wouldn’t stop aiming his camera at her.

He caught her warning look but went on.

Her mood only soured.

Even from a distance, Nancy noticed this, her gaze turning sharp.

Focusing on Hillary like that was blatant harassment.

The second she showed the slightest fatigue, he’d capture it and plaster it online to smear her

reputation.

Before she could act, Skylar muttered under his breath, “This damn photographer must be tired of living.” He made a quick call and gave a few instructions.

Within five minutes, the photographer answered his phone, his face falling. He packed up and left in a hurry. Hillary finally breathed easier, feeling much more at ease.

On the other side of the hall, Wendy frowned. She’d paid that photographer a good sum of money to catch Hillary at her worst, so why had he bailed?

“And now, it’s time to distribute the Best Newcomer Awards. Wendy Lidell, Iris Modling, and Nadia Wills, please come to the stage!” The host called Wendy’s name while she was still fuming inside..

Snapping back to reality, Wendy stepped onto the stage.

They were each handed a trophy before giving their speeches.

Nadia said, “I’m so grateful to the city for this award. It means so much to me, and I’ll keep working harder. I hope the city keeps growing, too!”

Then, the microphone was passed to Wendy. She looked out at the sea of faces and spoke slowly. ” I’m very happy to be invited and given this award.”

The host, seeing how brief she was, prompted, “Wendy, is there anything else you’d like to share?”

Wendy lowered her gaze, and when she looked up again, her eyes were rimmed red. “I think most of you know what I’ve been through. This past year has been both smooth and rough.

“I was thrilled to join Natalie’s production, but I never expected someone to try to steal my place. And that person… is Hillary Morgan.”
