Chapter 187 Teaching Raine a Lesson

In that instant, Nancy felt like she’d been struck by lightning. She just stood there, frozen in place.

She had thought about telling lan the truth, but only after the project was complete.

Now that he’d found out, he had to be very disappointed in her.

Her throat felt unbearably dry. After a long pause, she finally said in a low voice, “I’m sorry for letting you down, Dad. Please don’t be mad. This is all my fault.”

“Don’t be silly,” Ian said helplessly. “Nancy, I’ve always known you to be sensible since you were but a little girl. Liking Gideon isn’t your fault. He’s older than you and more experienced. It’s only

natural that you’d fall for him.”

“Dad…”

“But you have to think this through. Do you truly believe that you and Gideon can last?” Ian asked

seriously.

“I… I don’t know. But right now, we’re serious about each other, and we want to make it work.”

“I understand,” Ian said. “I’ve been young once, too. Back then, I thought love could conquer everything. But real life isn’t a fairytale, and you’ll face all kinds of obstacles.

“Nancy, don’t answer me right away. Think it over carefully, then tell me again.”

She replied to him softly. When the call ended, she clenched her phone in her hand.

If Ian had scolded her, she might have felt a little relief, but his patience and gentleness only left her more torn. Being with Gideon would undoubtedly hurt her family. Was it really right to keep moving forward with him?

A few minutes later, she returned to Gideon’s side.

The moment Gideon saw her expression, he asked, “Does your dad already know about us?”

“Yeah.” Her emotions were all over the place. “Gideon, I feel like going back now.”

“Okay, I’ll take you.” He didn’t try to stop her, respecting her choice.

He drove her back to the office and watched her walk inside, the warmth in his gaze slowly hardening until his eyes turned cold.

Half an hour later, Winter was in her office at the Blossom Corporation building, watching a TV show. Since she had invested in Natalie, she had to check it out.

But honestly, she didn’t really understand drama series. Something about it just felt off. And yet, Natalie had managed to become a top screenwriter because of this.

“Ms. Seabourne, someone’s here to see you,” her assistant suddenly reported.

“I’m not seeing anyone!” Winter said impatiently. Ever since she came to Riversdale, too many people had tried to cozy up to her, and she was sick of it.

“H-He said… He’s Gideon Fuller,” the assistant stammered.

Winter shot up from her chair. “Really? Gideon Fuller?”

She rushed out of the office and into the hallway. When she saw that familiar figure she’d been dreaming of, she thought she had to be hallucinating.

Did Gideon actually come to her on his own?

So her plan had worked!

There was no way the Moore family would allow Nancy to stay with Gideon. After all, the Moores and the Fullers were rivals.

They must have broken up!

Gideon must’ve realized how good she was, which was why he’d come to her.

Straightening her clothes, Winter walked over with a bright smile on her face. “Gide—”

The name barely left her lips before a hand clamped around her throat. Nausea hit her instantly as she stared at him in disbelief. “Gideon, w-what are you doing?”

“It was you, wasn’t it?” His eyes were colder than death itself.

Every hair on her body stood on end. “Gideon, you’ve got it wrong! It wasn’t me!”

“If not

you, then who?” His voice was cutting. “Winter, don’t you dare play games with me.’

Her face turned sullen, and she gritted her teeth. “Gideon, I only did this for your own good! Nancy isn’t good enough for you!”

“She’s not good enough for me, so you think you are?” His tone was venomous. “Winter, I’ve clearly given you too much leeway. Since that’s the case, you should pack up your things and get the hell back to Boraska.”
