Chapter 17 Taking a Shower at Gideon’s Place
The picture below was a screenshot of the conversation where Raine was informed of her dismissal as the spokesperson. The fans were instantly displeased after reading it, and they flooded the comment section.
“Are they serious? Duran isn’t even that great. How dare they dismiss Raine?”
“I know, right? Wasn’t it Duran who wanted her?“.
“I’ve got tea! Duran has a new young general manager. I’m pretty sure Raine was replaced out of jealousy.”
“What the hell? Who’s this ridiculous person? I’m going to give this person a piece of my mind!”
The comments section was mostly insults aimed at Nancy, thanks to the paid comments. With an indifferent expression, Nancy scrolled the screen. “I’d like to see who Duran is planning to hire. I doubt anyone would want to work with a brand like that.”
“Watch out, guys. If the manager doesn’t like you, you’re out. They have zero loyalty.”
Nancy turned off her phone and stepped into the shower, only to have the water go out halfway through. Frowning, she asked the building management about it.
That was when Nancy found out that they had sent a notice about the two–hour–long water disruption that would affect the floors starting from hers. She was covered in foam, her skin tacky, and her expression dark with displeasure.
Nancy scrolled through the messages and suddenly spotted Gideon’s name. He lived on the floor below hers, so he wouldn’t be affected by the water disruption.
Nancy was torn, wondering if she should go to his place for a shower. Unable to stand the tackiness, she gave in and dialed Gideon’s number. “Um… The water’s out at my place…”
While Nancy was still trying to put her sentence together, Gideon chuckled and said, “All right. Come over.
Sighing with relief, Nancy got dressed and went downstairs. The door opened the instant she knocked, and there stood Gideon in a navy loungewear set. Compared to his usual cold appearance, he looked more laid–back. He looked like he had just stepped out of the shower, too. His hair fell casually over his forehead, making him look younger and somehow even better looking.
“Thanks,” Nancy said rather awkwardly.
“Come in.” Gideon’s icy gaze seemed to twinkle with a subtle glee as he entered the house.
Nancy went in behind him, taking in the expansive apartment styled with understated luxury. It suited Gideon well.
“Everything you need is in there,” said Gideon, leading her to the bathroom.
Seeing all the essentials neatly laid out, Nancy couldn’t help but say, “Thank you. I’ll—‘
“Treat me to a meal again?” Gideon looked at her with a knowing smirk.

Nancy was at a loss for words. Patting her head, Gideon uttered, “Get in. Don’t worry about paying me back
Nancy closed the bathroom door. The faint sound of water falling filled the room as Gideon sat on the couch with his laptop in front of him. Although Gideon was clicking the mouse slowly, the document had been open for some time. Given his usual pace, he would’ve finished reading it long ago. Yet, he had only gotten through one line.
Gideon glanced toward the bathroom, catching a glimpse of Nancy’s silhouette through the glass. His gaze tightened as a subtle heat spread through his lower abdomen.
Immediately, he looked away and forced himself to focus on work. Meanwhile, Nancy noticed the bathroom was filled with a faint scent of lavender.
She figured Gideon had used the bathroom earlier. For some reason, it was a pleasant scent.
When Nancy was done showering, she dried her hair and stepped out of the bathroom to find Gideon staring into the night sky by the floor–to–ceiling window.
“I’ve finished showering. Thank you,” Nancy said.
“No problem. Do you want to stay for a bit?” Gideon asked, gazing at her.
Naney was about to refuse until she saw the piano in the corner, which caught her interest. “Isn’t this model discontinued? How much did you pay for it?
Gideon answered plainly, “Not much. About 20 million dollars. Do you want to give it a try?”
“Yes. Can I?”
“Help yourself,” answered Gideon.
Nancy immediately made her way to the piano, and so did Gideon. Just then, her phone rang.
When Nancy saw the caller ID, her hands trembled, and her feet gave way. As she was about to fall, she reached out to brace herself. However, an arti caught her waist and pulled her into a firm embrace.
