Chapter 169 To Ruin Your Birthday BanquetÂ
“You can be here, so why can’t I?” Nancy said with an amused smile, looking straight at Raine.” Besides, Ms. Hawthorne didn’t set any restrictions, did she?”Â
That was indeed true. “But Ms. Hawthorne probably wants to meet prominent businesspeople here. You can’t just take advantage of the fact that she didn’t set any rules and shamelessly come here. It will only burden her,” Raine said firmly.Â
“Raine’s right. Nancy, you should leave. Stop being an eyesore here!” Fergus said without holding back, drawing the attention of nearby guests.Â
“The Lidells are also here?”Â
“Everyone else left, so they had no reason to stay downstairs. They might as well come up here.”Â
“Nancy isn’t even an entrepreneur. She’s just a manager at Duran Corporation. She really doesn’t belong here.”Â
The guests started whispering and subtly judging Nancy, showing a bit of disdain.Â
“Some people think they can just ingratiate themselves with Ms. Hawthorne.” Fergus sneered. “Even if you sit here all day, Ms. Hawthorne won’t even glance at you. Don’t waste your time. Go back!”Â
Regina also spoke up, urging, “Nancy, just leave! Stop thinking of taking shortcuts all the time!”Â
Nancy ignored them like they were mere flies buzzing around her, which was incredibly annoying. Just then, Yelena suddenly walked over.Â
Everyone subconsciously stepped aside, curious to see who she was heading toward. To their surprise, Yelena was walking toward Nancy and Raine.Â
Raine noticed Yelena immediately. She was wearing an exquisite dark blue gown, black high heels, and exuded the air of a powerful businesswoman. Her face was delicate and beautiful, framed by gold -rimmed glasses.Â
Her neat and smooth short hair looked sharp. And as she walked toward them, an invisible force surrounded her, making Raine feel suffocated. At the same time, she was stunned by how cool YelenaÂ
was.Â
She was every bit as formidable as any male heir. It was no wonder that she was so famous.Â
And she was walking toward Raine! Surely, she was coming to apologize for disrupting her birthday banquet, right?Â
Raine’s heart leaped into her throat. She was about to meet such an extraordinary person. Tomorrow, her name would undoubtedly echo through every corner of Riversdale!Â

She couldn’t help but feel proud, practically floating with excitement. As Yelena approached, she immediately called out, “Ms. Hawthorne.”Â
Yelena glanced at her, her attractive eyes behind the gold–rimmed glasses looking calm yet dangerous.Â
“Ms. Hawthorne, you don’t have to apologize.” Raine tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.Â
Yelena smiled faintly, her voice cool and edged with ice. “Apologize?”Â
“Well, you’re here to talk to me about the birthday banquet, right?” Raine asked.Â
Yelena nodded. “It is indeed related to your birthday banquet.”Â
Raine’s heart soared with excitement. It was just as she had guessed!Â
Behind her, Regina, Andrew, and Fergus couldn’t hide their excitement either, convinced that Raine was about to befriend someone influential. She was indeed their pride and joy.Â
Regina clenched her hands, instinctively glancing at Nancy. Losing Nancy as a daughter hardly mattered now. Raine was just too extraordinary.Â
If only Raine were her real daughter instead.Â
The other guests at the banquet also looked at Raine differently. They had heard about what she’d done previously, and some felt a little disdainful. But now, Yelena was actually here because of her, which was jaw–dropping.Â
Surrounded by envious stares, Raine felt her pride surge. She turned to Yelena with a smile and said, “Ms. Hawthorne, there’s no need to apologize. It’s my honor to meet you, especially since you’ve come all the way to Riversdale. As for the birthday banquet, there will be plenty more down the road.” She was so graceful and considerate. Yelena would definitely think highly of her, wouldn’t she? She smiled, waiting for Yelena to look at her with admiration.Â
As expected, Yelena smiled.Â
Raine’s grin widened.Â
The next second, Yelena said, “What a pity. My only goal tonight is to ruin your birthday banquet.”Â
