“Ms. Moore, Mrs. Lidell wouldn’t have set this up unless she thought we’d be a good match. Why not give it a try? I’ve reserved us a table for tonight. Have dinner with me,” Jasper said as he held out the bouquet. 

After yesterday, he was still fuming. He was used to being pursued, not brushed off. He swore he would win Nancy over, only to dump her later and watch her cry while begging him not to 

leave. 

“Sorry, I have other plans.” Nancy didn’t take the bouquet. She simply turned away and hailed 

a cab. 

Jasper frowned and grabbed her wrist, but she shook him off. 

Her eyes went cold as she said, “I already have a boyfriend. Stop bothering me.” 

“You’re lying. Mrs. Lidell told me you were single.” Jasper didn’t buy a word of it. “Nancy, just have dinner with me. If you still feel the same afterward, I won’t bother you again.” 

Nancy had zero interest in humoring him and slid into the cab. 

“Where to, ma’am?” the driver asked. 

She was about to give her address when she received Gideon’s text. “Darling, let’s have dinner tonight. I’ve already booked us a table at the restaurant.” 

Her gaze softened. “Flight Bistro, please.” 

Flight Bistro glowed with dreamy lighting and had “date night” written all over it. 

Inside, candles lit up every table. Nancy took a seat at the window table Gideon had reserved 

for them. 

On the table waited a bouquet of blue roses, the kind she loved most. She lifted them and let her fingertips brush the petals. 

Moments later, a cart rolled up, piled with elegant gift boxes, each one more luxurious than the last. 

Gideon came to her side then. “Darling, I’ve realized that I haven’t treated you the way you deserve. From now on, I’ll do better.‘ 

He got on one knee, took her hand, and kissed her knuckles. 

“What is all this?” Nancy asked.

“Presents,” he said, his eyes warm. “Open them whenever you like.” 

“Why did you buy so many?” She sighed. “Don’t do this next time.” 

Per Gideon’s learnings today, “don’t” meant “do“. 

It seemed he had made the right guess. 

Gideon nodded at once. “Okay. Got it.” 

He took the seat across from her. 

Soon, the steaks arrived, and he carefully cut hers up 

for her.

Nancy glanced up, and with the candlelight, he looked even more devastatingly handsome 

than usual. 

They chatted casually, and the air turned easy and warm. 

To someone else, though, the scene was anything but pleasant. 

Jasper had booked the same restaurant. 

When Nancy turned him down, he invited a business partner instead. She kept buttering him up, which eased the sting of Nancy’s prior rejection. 

Then, a familiar silhouette caught his eye as he entered. 

He stared until Nancy turned enough for him to see her profile. 

She was here! But who was the man sitting across from her? 

Even from a distance, the man was annoyingly handsome. So, this was her so–called boyfriend? 

In Jasper’s mind, he was nothing but a pretty face living off her. 

Jasper felt heat climb up his neck. Being outshone by a man like that was more than he could 

stand. 

“Jasper, what are you looking at?” his partner asked. “Is everything going smoothly with Fuller Group?” 

“Yeah, things are right on track. We’ll be importing their high–end medical equipment any day now,” Jasper said with a boastful grin. 

However, his eyes stayed fixed across the room. “Excuse me for a minute.”

“Sure, no problem.” 

Jasper strode to Nancy’s table. Then, he “accidentally” clipped Gideon’s arm as he passed, and Gideon’s fork slipped and tapped Jasper’s shoe. 

“What’s wrong with you?” Jasper snapped. “You dirtied my shoes. Do you even know how much these cost?” 

Nancy’s gaze turned cold when she saw Jasper. “Jasper, you bumped into him.” 

“So what if I did?” He huffed. “His fork stained a limited–edition pair that’s been out of production for years. So how are we fixing this?” 

Gideon smoothed his cuff and looked up, unruffled. “What do you have in mind?” 

“Either buy me a new pair, or lick them clean.” Jasper’s swagger filled the room. 

“Don’t push it!” Nancy said coldly. 

“Even if I am, what are you going to do about it?” Jasper sneered. “So this is your pretty boy? Your taste is awful! If he can’t settle this, I won’t go easy on him! 

“And just so you know, our hospital just closed a deal with Fuller Group. You’ve heard of them, right?”
