Chapter 15 Rather Pretty
Fergus furrowed his brows. “Raine, why would you invite her to dinner? Don’t you remember what she did to you?”
“But Fergie, Nancy might never get the chance to dine at a place like this.” Raine looked back, her eyes laced with sympathy.
Fergues thought Raine was too kind.
He sighed inwardly and ruffled Raine’s hair. He then shot Nancy a disgusted look. “Since Raine said so, I’ll give you a chance. If you get on your knees and apologize to her, I’ll let you tag along.”
Nancy was speechless. “Are you two putting on a show? Did I say I was going to eat with you?”
Raine’s gaze remained contemptuous, but she spoke softly. “Nancy, I know you can’t swallow your pride, but you need to reserve in advance to get seats here. Otherwise, you’ll have to spend triple the amount to get in.
“Even if you manage to get in, the average cost per person is over 5,000 dollars. Are you sure you won’t dine with us?”
She was confident that Nancy wouldn’t pass up the chance to freeload on them.
To her surprise, Nancy merely rolled her eyes. “Triple the price? Are you guys sitting outside?”
“Even so, it’s out of your reach!” Fergus snapped in frustration. He couldn’t believe she had the nerve to turn them down.
Raine also got frustrated. Nancy was this pretentious even though she grew up in the countryside.
That amount of money was probably what Nancy’s family spent on food in the countryside for the entire
Raine was about to continue talking when the manager hurried over to them.
year.
If they wanted to dine here, they had to be on good terms with the manager, so Raine recognized him immediately. Surprised, she asked, “Fergie, why the manager here?”
Fergus thought about it. “Does he want to talk to me? He knows that my technology company has just gone public.”
Sure enough, the manager walked straight to them.
Fergus smirked, shooting Nancy an arrogant look.
This country bumpkin would never get to experience their lives.
“Miss, your guest is here. Please follow me to the private room.” The manager spoke politely, addressing Nancy.
Nancy nodded and left with the manager without sparing Raine or Fergus a glance.
The two were stunned to realize that Nancy was dining in a private room.
The Lidell family might be rich, but they had never dined in a private room before, as it had a minimum spend of ten thousand dollars.
The Lidells weren’t extravagant enough to spend tens of thousands on a meal.
Recalling what they had said earlier, Raine and Fergus felt utterly humiliated, as though they had been slapped dozens of times.
“How did Nancy…” Raine’s fists balled up, her expression complicated.
“Ha, I knew she had a sugar daddy!” Fergus‘ gaze turned cold and sinister. “I’ll find out who the man is!”
Gideon was already waiting in the private room. His bespoke suit emphasized his broad shoulders and slim waist, highlighting his graceful and exceptional demeanor.
Strangely, Nancy recalled what Hillary had said earlier.
Winning over Gideon wouldn’t be a bad deal.
Gideon’s looks and physique were top–notch, after all.
“Are you done staring?” His deep, magnetic voice snapped Nancy out of her reverie. She quickly took her seat. “What would you like to eat?”
“I’ve already ordered. It’s your turn.” Gideon handed her the menu.
Nancy reached out and accidentally touched his cool hand. Her fingers trembled slightly before she took the menu from him.
She observed Gideon as he lowered his gaze to look at his phone. Even in such a casual action, he radiated effortless nobility that was impossible to ignore.
Nancy lowered her head to sip on water. She wouldn’t make the first move. Perhaps Gideon would stop contacting her after this meal.
After all, they were from different worlds.

The food was soon served. The taste was to Nancy’s liking. As she enjoyed her grilled skewer, Gideon suddenly offered her the last one. Nancy stared at him. “You don’t like it?”
“A true gentleman never takes what someone else treasures,” Gideon replied, his eyes fixed on Nancy.
Nancy was puzzled. “Is there something on my face?”

“Yes.”
As she reached up instinctively to touch her face, Gideon added, “It’s rather
pretty.”
