For a brief moment, the call went silent. 

Yelena exclaimed, “A mistake? That’s hardly a mistake!” 

Hillary added, “Yeah! Gideon treats you so well, Nancy. If I were you, I would’ve fallen for him already. Hey, if your feelings are mutual, why not just give it a try?” 

Nancy lowered her gaze. “Gideon doesn’t like me. There’s someone else he likes. He only spends time with me because I don’t like him. If I ever confessed, he’d push me away, just like he did with Winter.” 

“You…” Yelena was at a loss for words. She had always focused solely on work and had little experience with romance. She said, “Hillary, come up with a solution!” 

Hillary shook her head. “Well, I honestly think that Gideon likes you. Nancy, why don’t you give it a shot? Maybe you’re the one he’s actually interested in.” 

Nancy forced a bitter smile. “I don’t think so. If that were the case, why hasn’t he told me? Regardless, it’s fine. I’ll be upset for one night, and by tomorrow, I’ll be myself again.” 

Yelena sighed with concern. “Babe, we’re here for you. If you want to cry, just let it out. It’s completely normal to like someone, especially someone as amazing as Gideon. 

“Honestly, I’m actually happy you’re with these feelings. Before this, all you ever cared about was work. You were a total workaholic! I’d be worried that you’d end up lonely forever if you kept it up!” 

Hillary stayed quiet, lost in her own thoughts. 

Nancy chatted with them for a while, and her sadness eased considerably. After hanging up, she took a shower and lay in bed to rest. 

She knew she wouldn’t get any sleep that night. 

It wasn’t until the first light of dawn that Nancy finally managed a brief nap. 

But the moment she drifted off to sleep, Gideon’s impeccably handsome face appeared in her dream. 

His gaze was tender and filled with affection. But in the next instant, it turned cold and distant. “You like me? Didn’t I make it clear that I have someone I like? Don’t contact me again!

Nancy woke up with a start, drenched in sweat. 

Seeing that it was already 8:00 am, she decided not to rest any longer. She got up, brushed her teeth, and prepared to head to the office without breakfast. 

When she opened her apartment door, however, a strong smell of smoke hit her. 

She frowned, thinking, “That’s strange… Why is there smoke here? Did someone come by last night?” 

A sense of unease washed over her. She immediately asked the building management to retrieve the surveillance footage so she could review it later. 

At the office, Nancy attended a meeting with the business development department. 

Johnny was constantly refilling her water glass and handing her documents, acting overly attentive, which made everyone exchange knowing glances. 

Unable to ignore it any longer, Christopher leaned toward Nancy and whispered, “Do you want me to deal with Johnny?” 

Nancy nodded slightly. She had already made herself clear, but Johnny was still being stubborn and persistent. Faced with this situation, Nancy was left with no other choice. 

After the meeting, Christopher called Johnny into his office. 

“Johnny, even though the company doesn’t oppose office romances, you can’t be so blatant. You’re already affecting everyone’s work as it is,” Christopher said, looking at him seriously. 

Johnny smiled sheepishly. “Mr. Wentworth, today’s meeting went smoothly. I honestly don’t see how I affected anyone’s work.” 

“Can’t you tell? You’re affecting Nancy’s work,” Christopher said bluntly. “Because of you, she feels uncomfortable.” 

The smile vanished from Johnny’s face, replaced with a look of sorrow. “Mr. Wentworth, you’re in a relationship yourself. You know how hard it is to control your feelings when you like someone.” 

“But there’s no future for you two.” Christopher sighed. “You need to stop before things get 

worse.” 

“As long as I try my best, I believe we can have a future together,” Johnny said firmly. 

Christopher shook his head in disbelief. He wondered how anyone could be so stubborn. 

He said, “Johnny, don’t you realize who Nancy is? She’s the heiress of the Moore family. She’s

Halfway through his sentence, Johnny’s phone rang.

“Excuse me, Mr. Wentworth, I have to take this call. We’ll continue this conversation later,” Johnny said as he walked away. 

Christopher could only groan in frustration. It was impossible to talk to Johnny as he was completely impervious to reason. 

Then, Christopher’s own phone rang. It was an unknown number. 

He answered, “Hello, who’s this?” 

“I’m Corey Lawson, Mr. Fuller’s assistant,” Corey said. 

“Hello, Corey. Is there something Mr. Fuller needs?” Christopher replied respectfully. 

“Dinner tonight. Mr. Fuller wants to discuss matters on the collaboration. Bring Mr. Levine as well,” Corey replied. 

“Understood,” Christopher said, hanging up immediately after. 

He paused, feeling a little uneasy. After thinking for a moment, he couldn’t help but worry on Johnny’s behalf. 

That evening, Nancy and the others arrived at Starlight Bistro to find Gideon already there. He was dressed in a sleek black designer suit, standing tall with a commanding presence. His presence was both elegant and cold. 

When he saw them, he simply said, “You’re here.’ 

“Mr. Fuller, you arrived early. I hope we didn’t keep you waiting,” Christopher said with a 

smile. 

“I just got here,” Gideon replied. “And this must be Mr. Levine?” 

Christopher nodded and introduced them to each other. “This is Johnny Levine. Don’t let his age fool you. He’s got real talent. Johnny, this is Mr. Fuller.” 

Johnny casually glanced at Gideon. His features were calm, almost unreadable, yet they radiated an unspoken authority that made the air feel heavier, forcing Johnny to subconsciously hold his breath. 

“Mr. Fuller, it’s an honor,” Johnny said politely.
