Chapter 131 Never Abandoning Nancy

Chapter 131 Never Abandoning Nancy

“You should just give yourself to him,” Hillary said with a laugh, teasing Nancy about the gift she should get Gideon.

Nancy stayed silent.

Hillary laughed louder and said, “Just kidding! But I really do think that all Gideon wants is

you.

“That aside, when you give a man a gift, it should be something he can use every day. That way, he’ll think of you every time he uses it.”

Nancy pondered for a moment, thinking about what Gideon might use every day.

Suddenly, an idea struck her. She immediately headed to a nearby store and bought what she had in mind. She was immensely pleased with her purchase.

Just as she was about to leave, her phone rang. It was Martha.

Her voice was low and serious as she said, “Nancy, something is going on at home. Do you have a moment?”

“I have time, Grandma. What’s going on?”

“Mr. Fuller is here. You know there’s an engagement deal between the Fuller and Lidell

families. Raine was supposed to fulfil it, but now that you’re back, it’s time to make this clear.”

Nancy thought to herself for a moment, then immediately understood what was going on.

“I’ll come over right now.”

“Alright,” came Martha’s response.

Within 15 minutes, Nancy arrived at the Lidell residence.

In the grand living room, she found a group of people surrounding a fragile-looking girl. Raine clung to a handsome man, trembling at the sight of Nancy and gripping his arm as if terrified.

Alex patted Raine’s hand and looked up at Nancy, a trace of complexity flickering in his gaze. Ms. Moore,” he called.

“Mr. Fuller,” Nancy replied calmly, taking a seat beside Martha.

Alex spoke to Nancy. “Ms. Lidell, although you’re the eldest daughter of the Lidell family,

Raine and I have been in love for a long time. I’m sorry.”

“Mr. Fuller, there’s no need to apologize,” Nancy said, her expression calm and composed. “I never intended to interfere with this engagement.”

Alex studied Nancy’s composed and elegant demeanor, and something stirred inside him. She was nothing like the way Raine had described her.

Raine caught that look in his eyes, and a flash of coldness flickered in her gaze.

Then, her voice broke into sobs. “But even though Nancy says that, she’s thinking otherwise. I lost our bet, and she’ll find a way to kick me out of the Lidell family. Everyone will laugh at me!

Tears streaked down her cheeks as she wept.

Alex turned back to Nancy. “I have one more request. Ms. Moore, please leave the Lidell family.

As he spoke, the room fell silent, and even the ticking of the clock seemed to be amplified.

Martha’s face darkened, but before she could speak, Alex continued, “I’m willing to offer you 50 million dollars.”

50 million! Most people could never earn such an amount in their entire lifetime.

Raine couldn’t help but grumble inwardly. “Why give her that much?”

Yet, thinking that Alex was doing this for her, a small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips, and she threw Nancy a defiant glance.

Wendy gasped, her eyes wide in shock. “50 million… Mr. Fuller, that’s incredibly generous. Nancy, what are you just standing there for? Go on, say yes already!”

“Wendy!” Martha’s rebuke cut sharply through the room.

Wendy flinched and shrank back. She stammered, “Grandma, I only said it for the good of our family. This is Mr. Fuller we’re talking about. He has enough power to destroy us with a snap of his fingers.

“He’s offering Nancy a fortune just to leave. That’s a blessing we should be grateful for!”

When she finished speaking, Wendy sneered at Nancy. “Do you see the difference between you and Raine now? Raine is the only one Mr. Fuller cares for.

“No matter how capable you think you are, you’re not worth even a strand of her hair. Be smart, leave the Lidell family on your own, and stop dragging us down with you.”

“Nancy will not be leaving,” Martha declared, each word clipped with authority.

The room fell into silence. All eyes turned toward her.

Nancy herself was taken aback. She looked at Martha, her heart tightening with an unexpected swell of both gratitude and sorrow.

Everyone knew of the Fuller family’s power.

Wendy’s words were not an exaggeration. If Alex said the word, Lidell Group could be made bankrupt within the week. That was the kind of power gap they faced.

Fergus’ voice shook with panic. “Grandma, if Nancy stays, all of us are finished!”

Martha fixed her gaze on Alex. “Mr. Fuller, is that truly what you mean to do? To force Nancy out?”

Alex’s expression darkened, unreadable to all.

Raine suddenly rose to her feet, tears spilling down her face. “This is all because of me. I should be the one to leave. Only one of us can stay in this house.”

Though she spoke the words, her movements were painfully slow.

Before Alex could reach for her, Fergus grabbed her arm first.

His voice cracked with desperation as he said, “Raine, you can’t leave! The day you disappeared, I nearly lost my mind. Don’t put me through that again. I can’t bear it!”

Raine wept harder, tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked pitifully at Alex.

Alex pressed his lips together. After several seconds, his eyes hardened with resolve. “Mrs. Lidell Senior, I’m not forbidding you from seeing Nancy. I’m only asking that she leave the Lidell family.”

“Grandma, just agree to Mr. Fuller!” Fergus pleaded loudly.

“Yes, Grandma,” Wendy quickly added.

Regina’s gaze flickered toward Nancy. For a moment, it held a trace of hesitation and something akin to pity. But when her gaze shifted to Raine, her expression softened with

concern.

“Impossible!” Martha’s voice cracked through the air, sharp and commanding. Her presence radiated authority as she fixed her gaze on Alex.

“The Lidell family will never abandon Nancy!”
