Skylar thought, “This lovesick fool is definitely not my good friend!”

In the private room of the celebratory dinner, everyone was in high spirits.

Rowena, a little tipsy from drinking, couldn’t help but ask, “Ms. Moore, you’re actually a member of the Lidell family, right?”

Nancy glanced at Rowena but didn’t answer immediately.

Rowena continued, “I heard it from Minerva and the others. Raine said you’re the lost child of

the Lidells and that you’ve always felt the family treated you unfairly, which is why you picked

on her.

“Honestly, I think that’s nonsense. If you really are part of the Lidells, why would your family be so biased? Someone as talented as you… If it were my parents, they’d be thrilled.”

The designer seated next to Nancy noticed her lowered gaze and unreadable expression,

quickly covering Rowena’s mouth while apologizing to Nancy. “Sorry, Ms. Moore. She’s had

too much to drink!”

Then, she scolded Rowena. “Rowena, stop drinking! You’re drunk. I’ll take you home!”

“Alright, everyone. Head home soon. Hannah, call a ride for everyone,” Nancy instructed.

“Got it. I’ll get to it right away,” Hannah replied immediately.

Nancy also left the hotel and stood by the curb, staring at the night sky hidden behind thick clouds. The scene was quiet and a little gloomy, and slowly, raindrops began to fall, pattering softly around her.

She reached her hand out, feeling a drop land in her palm-but only one.

Lifting her gaze, she noticed the edge of a black umbrella.

“Cold?” a voice asked from somewhere behind her.

“Not really,” Nancy replied.

As the words left her mouth, a warm black suit jacket draped over her shoulders, carrying a familiar rich cedarwood scent and enveloping her whole.

Nancy froze for a moment. She wasn’t actually cold.

“Get in the car. It’s parked across the street,” Gideon said, his hand brushing casually over her

shoulder as he led her toward the vehicle.

At the car, Gideon reached for the door handle when a voice called out excitedly, “Hi! Can I take your picture?”

Nancy and Gideon turned to see a photographer, Horace Ortega, holding a camera, face flushed with excitement.

“I just saw you two over there. You’re so perfect together, handsome and beautiful. You’re the best couple I’ve ever seen. Please let me take a photo!”

Nancy instinctively replied, “We’re not-”

“You can take it, but we don’t want it shared,” Gideon said.

“No problem. I’ll give you the photo,” Horace said with a smile.

Nancy glanced at Gideon, eyes full of curiosity. He kept his gaze on the camera, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

He said, “It’s fate, isn’t it? Why not capture the moment?”

“Alright,” Nancy said, nodding as she looked at the lens.

“Alright, here we go! Three, two, one!”

As the shutter clicked, Gideon suddenly wrapped an arm around Nancy’s shoulders, pulling her close. The subtle cedarwood scent filled her senses, leaving her momentarily stunned.

“Perfect! Absolutely perfect!” Horace exclaimed, handing them the oriented photo. “Thank you for letting me capture this. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!”

“Thank you,” Gideon said politely, the corner of his mouth lifting in a slight smile.

Nancy looked at the photo. Gideon was striking and composed, standing close to her with a gentle, warm smile in his eyes. At that moment, they really looked like a couple.

“Do you want it?” Gideon asked.

“It’d be better if you kept it,” Nancy said, handing it over. Gideon put it away and opened the car door for her. Soon, they drove off together.

Horace couldn’t stop praising their looks.

Even the next day at work, during a break in the studio, he excitedly told his colleagues about the handsome man and stunning woman he had seen the night before.

Horace said, “The woman was absolutely stunning and so elegant. And the guy? Even more

handsome than Matthew Carpenter, the hottest celebrity right now!”

“Are you kidding? He’s that handsome?” The staff members were curious, yet couldn’t quite

believe it.

“I’m serious!”

Horace saw that they didn’t believe him and anxiously tried to explain, but he couldn’t show them the photos.

Just then, Winter walked in with her head down, staring at her phone, feeling down because Gideon still hadn’t replied to her messages.

Horace caught a glimpse of her wallpaper and exclaimed, “It’s this guy!”

Winter frowned at Horace. “What are you talking about?”

“I ran into him last night, and I think it’s this guy. He’s really handsome,” Horace said.

Winter snorted coldly. “Lucky you, running into Gideon like that…”

“He was with a beautiful woman, and they looked really close,” Horace added, even more

excited now.

Winter’s smile stiffened.

The staff quickly looked down, busying themselves with work while shooting Horace sympathetic glances.

Realizing he might have said too much, Horace muttered, “I’ll go and check the camera.”

“Wait.” A chilling voice came from behind.

Winter’s tone was icy. “Come here and tell me what they were like together.”
