Chapter 118 Breathtaking

Fergus believed that Nancy had no chance of winning. He instantly brightened up. “Mom, let’s go see Raine!”

Regina glanced at Nancy with a complicated look on her face, wanting to say something. However, Nancy had already gone back to her room and shut the door.

In the end, Regina just sighed. If Nancy lost and had no choice but to leave the Lidell residence, she would at least give her some money so she wouldn’t end up struggling too

much.

She and Fergus went to Raine’s room after that. Seeing Raine surrounded by models in exquisite outfits, Regina’s expression softened.

Fergus immediately told Raine about the wager.

Raine’s eyes widened, a flicker of joy flashing across her face before unease quickly took over. But what if Nancy wins? Mom, Fergie, I don’t want to leave you.”

“Don’t worry, Raine. She’s never even designed clothes before. There’s no way she can beat you,” Fergus said warmly. “You’re the best. You’re not allowed to doubt yourself.”

Raine nodded reluctantly. “Alright. I’ll do my best.”

Regina looked at them with warmth. “The show’s about to begin. Let’s head to our seats.”

“Alright, Mom.”

Regina and Fergus sat amongst the other audience members and exchanged pleasantries with the people around them.

“Mrs. Lidell, you raised an amazing daughter. Even Jerome showed up for her.”

“Yes, Raine is beautiful and talented.”

The compliments poured in.

As for the fiasco at the piano competition, everyone seemed to have conveniently forgotten about it.

That was how the world worked. As long as you had value, people would come flocking to you.

Regina was smiling gently. “Raine has always been gifted. I hope you’ll continue to support her.”

“Of course. We absolutely will.”

The lights dimmed, signaling the beginning of the show. Soon, the host walked on stage. ” Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend Lidell Group’s latest product showcase. Our runway presentation is about to begin!”

After the usual pleasantries, the first model came strutting out.

The lavish gown caught everyone’s eyes at once. The room went silent.

Her dress glittered with gems of every kind, the satin shimmering under the stage lights so brightly that it was almost blinding.

Backstage, Raine watched the crowd’s reaction through the live feed with satisfaction. As expected, they were stunned by her masterful design.

She had deliberately sent her model out first to crush Nancy. If the audience saw something dazzling at the start, they naturally wouldn’t find Nancy’s work all that impressive.

She was certain of her victory.

Regina didn’t know much about design. To her, anything that sparkled was beautiful. “Wow! This gown, designed by Raine, is breathtaking,” she praised.

Andrew frowned slightly. He knew enough about the company’s products to recognize that while the dress was eye-catching, it was also a little overdone.

“Stunning!”

Someone in the crowd started clapping.

“Yes! Raine never disappoints us!”

“The moment the model came out, I was floored!”

Many people spoke in admiration, their gazes subtly drifting to Jerome, whose expression gave nothing away.

Others exchanged conflicted whispers.

“Did she just pile every pricey thing she could find onto that dress?”

“The design’s fine, but with all those diamonds, it screams nouveau riche. Who would even dare wear it out in public?”

“This is just Raine’s style. It looks like there’s no need to even see what Nancy comes up

Some people were left disappointed.

The first model exited quickly, and the second one walked out immediately after.

By now, part of the audience had lost interest, leaning back and closing their eyes. But then, they heard a sharp intake of breath in the room.

The bored audience members cracked their eyes open and saw the next model in the spotlight, draped in a black-and-white gown. The embroidery was so intricate that it looked like a painting had come to life.

“Gorgeous!”

“This one was designed by someone on Nancy’s team. If her designers can produce something

this beautiful, I’m starting to wonder just how amazing her own piece will be.”

“Don’t get your hopes too high. I heard she didn’t even study fashion design.”

“Still, this one already feels more stylish than Raine’s.”
