Nancy’s eyes curved as she smiled.

Gideon watched her, brushing the corner of her mouth with his thumb. The rough touch sent an electric jolt through her, making her cheeks warm.

“You have something on your face,” he said softly.

“Thanks,” she murmured, glancing away.

He noticed her ears flush, and the corner of his mouth lifted ever so slightly. In the dim light of night, his gaze felt impossibly gentle.

“Oh my gosh… Mr. Fuller is just too perfect,” Hillary whispered into Skylar’s ear. “When you’re looking for a man, you really need someone like him who is powerful and devoted.”

Skylar’s smile stiffened for a moment. He turned to Hillary and pinched her cheek. “That’s only if you’re Nancy. Remember, you’re Hillary.”

Hillary’s heart sank, and she shot him a glare. She knew she couldn’t compare to Nancy, but his words cut sharper than she expected.

She couldn’t help but have a couple more drinks. Before long, drowsiness overcame her, and she almost buried her face in the barbecue. Skylar caught her just in time.

“Hillary’s had too much to drink. I’ll take her home.”

Nancy wanted to say something, but Skylar had already left with Hillary in tow.

Feeling a little dizzy herself, Nancy realized she might have overdone it as well. “I need to use the restroom,” she said.

“Okay, I’ll take you.” Gideon escorted her to the entrance and waited outside.

Ten minutes passed, and Nancy still hadn’t come out.

Growing concerned, Gideon sent her a message but received no reply.

He called, but the call went unanswered. Anxiety rising, he walked into the women’s restroom and called out, “Nancy?”

There was no sound from inside.

At this late hour, the restroom was quiet and appeared empty.

Gideon gritted his teeth and stepped inside. He quickly spotted Nancy in a stall, the door

unlocked.

She sat on the toilet, leaning against the wall, seemingly asleep. He gently patted her face.

“Nancy?”

She smacked her lips but didn’t wake up.

Gideon took a deep breath, lifted her up, and began to leave.

Just then, footsteps echoed near the door.

He hurried into a different stall, closing the door behind them.

The footsteps stopped right outside their stall. A woman’s voice called out, “Is anyone in here?

The stall was cramped, forcing Gideon to hold Nancy close just to fit inside. He stayed perfectly still, saying nothing in response.

“Is anyone here? Say something,” the woman pressed on.

Then, she tried the door, but it was locked. Muttering to herself, she said, “Could someone have passed out inside? I’d better go get help.”

Gideon’s expression changed instantly. The thought of Fuller Group’s CEO being seen in the women’s restroom was unthinkable. He leaned closer and whispered, “Honey, take it easy. Go slowly.”

A low, sultry rumble echoed through the air, and the person at the door immediately grasped what was happening. The woman’s expression shifted in shock, and she muttered a curse under her breath. “Who do they think they are? Doing that in a public bathroom?”

The sound of hurried footsteps quickly faded away.

Gideon let out a sigh of relief. He scooped Nancy up in his arms and carried her outside. Once back in the car, he gently set her down and studied her delicate, flushed face, which radiated an irresistible charm.

His eyes involuntarily lingered on her cherry-red lips, full, soft, and irresistibly inviting, like ripe fruit ready to be savored.

Gideon’s eyes darkened, and his breathing hitched slightly.

A few seconds later, he tore his gaze away.

He drove Nancy back to her apartment building and carried her out of the car.

At her front door, he used her finger to unlock the apartment unit with the fingerprint. scanner. Once inside, he gently laid her on the large bed in her bedroom.

No sooner had he set her down than she wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him onto the bed with her. Her legs curled around his, holding him tight like an octopus. Nancy

murmured, “Little rabbit, I’ve missed you so much.”

Little rabbit? Was she confusing him with her stuffed toy?

“Nancy, it’s me,” Gideon said, forcing the words out.

She didn’t respond. Instead, she rested her head against his chest and nuzzled him, mumbling

in a dazed voice, “Little rabbit, why is this the only soft part on your body?”

Her hand wandered lower. “And this part… Wait, this part is hard.”
