Chapter 110 The Villain Rises

Natalie’s chest heaved with fury. “Nancy, don’t you dare meddle in my business. This is my set. You can post whatever you want, but you’ll be dragging Hillary down with you and violating her contract. She can forget about ever being the female lead!”

“Then she won’t be!” Nancy shot back. “We’ll cancel the contract right now!”

A sudden breeze swept through the set, and everyone went silent. No one dared to make a sound, as if afraid to interrupt a battle between gods.

Nancy’s words left everyone in shock.

Cancel the contract?

This was the hottest script on the market.

Hillary’s assistant looked at her, a tangled mix of worry and hesitation in her eyes. Hillary studied Nancy for a moment before walking over. “Nancy… how could you?”

Natalie quickly regained her composure and sneered. “Did you hear that, Nancy? Hillary doesn’t want to cancel the contract. Where else could she go after leaving my production?”

Hillary’s gaze was sharp. “Nancy, you should’ve spoken up sooner. I only agreed to be Natalie’s lead for your sake. But Natalie completely butchered the script!”

The room fell silent.

Natalie’s expression darkened. “Hillary, are you serious?”

“Of course I’m serious, Natalie! Without Nancy rewriting it for you, your script is nothing but trash!” Hillary snapped. “I’m canceling the contract right now.”

Natalie’s hands trembled with fury, her face hard and voice icy. “Fine. Cancel it. Just pay the penalty stated in the contract!”

“Are you sure you want me to pay up? Nancy recorded everything, didn’t she?” Hillary scoffed. “Natalie, do you really think your writing is any good? Just looking at this trashy script gives me a headache!”

For a few seconds, Natalie was left speechless. Then, in a chilling tone, she said, “Hillary, you’ve gotten a little too cocky. Fine. I won’t make you pay, but you will face the consequences of your words.

“If

you can find a script better than mine and produce a show more popular than mine within

three months, you win. I won’t ask for a single cent. But if your show isn’t more popular than mine… you will kneel and apologize to me!”

Her forceful declaration drew everyone’s eyes to Hillary.

A hint of pity flickered across their faces.

Natalie was being petty, but how could Hillary possibly find a script that could outshine hers?

The director stepped in, trying to mediate. “Hillary, why don’t you just apologize to Natalie? And Natalie, we’re all friends here. There’s no need to be so dramatic. Hillary’s take was solid today. Let’s just wrap this scene up, okay?”

“No way,” Natalie replied, eyes blazing with arrogance. “She can avoid canceling the contract, but she has to kneel and apologize to me right now. Then, maybe, I’ll consider giving her another chance.”

“Impossible!”

Hillary shouted, “So, Natalie, you’ve come into money. You didn’t learn a thing of value, but you’ve mastered the cruel ways of a capitalist. You want me to kneel and beg for your forgiveness? I’ll think about bowing at your grave after you’re dead!”

“Hillary, that’s enough!” Natalie stood abruptly, her eyes sharp and icy. “If that’s how you feel, why not take my earlier suggestion? You’re not afraid of losing, are you?”

“Don’t worry. I would never lose to you. But what happens if I win?” Hillary sneered.

“Then, I’ll be in breach of contract and pay the penalty,” Natalie said. Though, she inwardly scoffed, confident that Hillary couldn’t win.

“Why am I the only one paying the penalty? I don’t just want the fine. I want you to apologize to Nancy in front of everyone!” Hillary said, her words sharp and deliberate.

Natalie glanced at Nancy. After a pause, she said, “Fine. I agree to the terms. Everyone here will be a witness.”

Everyone was petrified. When two titans clashed like this, who would dare speak up?

Even the director was getting a major headache.

Hillary pressed on. “A verbal agreement isn’t enough. Let’s sign a contract right now!”

“Good, I was thinking the same thing,” Natalie said, using the crew’s laptop and printer to draft an agreement.

The two signed it on the spot.

Hillary changed out of her costume and makeup, leaving with Nancy soon after.

The director tried to stop her, but Hillary didn’t even glance his way. Helpless, he turned to

Natalie.

“Natalie, aren’t you being too rash? Hillary is one of the industry’s most valuable actresses, and her acting is top-notch. Where will we find a replacement for the lead role?”

Natalie’s anger hadn’t eased. “The only reason Hillary is popular is because of my script, not the other way around! Anyone who acts in my production will make it a hit regardless!”

The director felt a wave of despair, realizing she was completely unyielding.
