Chapter 103 From Friends to Foes

Minerva stared at the screen for a long while. Just from the design drafts alone, she could already picture how breathtaking the final products would be.

Could Nancy’s team really have created these?

Minerva quickly opened the second design draft, then the third. With each brilliant piece she scrolled through, a chill crept down her spine.

She had been so sure that their team was making great strides under Raine’s leadership, confident they would crush Nancy and her team. But now, she only felt like a fool.

There were eight designs in total, which meant that Nancy’s wasn’t among them.

Without hesitation, Minerva snapped some photos and sent them to Raine.

What should we do, Ms. Lidell? Their designs are incredible!”

Moments later, Raine called. Are these really their new drafts?”

Yes. I found them on Lilith’s computer!Minerva’s voice trembled with panic. I never imagined Nancy to have this much talent. Lilith’s earlier designs were decent, but her work has improved dramatically!”

Raine’s eyes locked on the images, her nails pressing so hard into her palm that she didn’t even notice the pain.

Do exactly as I say,Raine ordered, her voice cold.

Yes, Ms. Lidell.”

After carrying out Raine’s instructions, Minerva left the office.

The night faded, giving way to the soft glow of dawn as the city slowly stirred awake.

Not long after waking up, Nancy received a message from Hillary.

Finally, a day off! Let’s get lunch. I’ve been dying to try this new restaurant, and I finally scored a reservation, even if it was through a scalper.”

Nancy agreed without hesitation. After all, it had been a while since they last met.

The place Hillary mentioned was one of the city’s hottest spots, known among the elite for its refined atmosphere and stunning decor.

The two set their meeting for 12:00 pm.

When Nancy arrived, Hillary had just gotten there as well. Disguised in an inconspicuous hat and mask, she linked arms with Nancy.

Nancy frowned. Have you lost weight again?”

I can’t help it. Filming’s been exhausting lately.”

At this rate, you’ll turn into skin and bones,Nancy said, gently touching her arm. Why have you been so tied up these past few days? Are they filming all your scenes at once? You could talk to the director about spacing them out.”

Forget it. The sooner I wrap up, the sooner I’ll be free,Hillary replied. She seemed carefree and easygoing, but when it came to acting, she was serious and deeply committed. This was how she became an Alist actress at such a young age.

As they stepped into the bustling restaurant, Hillary’s stomach growled. Meat! Finally! I can have some meat!”

Miss, may I please have your room number?the waiter asked.

I booked room 105,Hillary replied.

Very well. I’ll escort you upstairs, the waiter said politely.

Hold on.”

A manager suddenly walked up to Hillary, bowing slightly in apology.

Miss, I’m terribly sorry, but we won’t be able to serve you today. We’d like to offer you two thousand dollars in compensation and arrange a private room for you tomorrow instead. Would that be acceptable?”

The abrupt interruption made Hillary frown. And why is that?”

My deepest apologies, miss. This private room was actually reserved by another guest. It was our mistake that caused this mishap, the manager stammered, dabbing at the sweat on his forehead.

Hillary’s expression turned cold. She wasn’t a fool, and she knew that excuse was only a lie.

She casually glanced over her shoulder and caught sight of two familiar figures being escorted upstairs by a waiter.

Hillary’s face darkened. Did they take our table? I’m sorry, but I’ll be dining here today.”

Her voice was loud enough to make the two people on the stairs stop and turn around.

Nancy also spotted the two familiar faces. Seeing them side by side made her heart sink.

She had already suspected that Natalie and Winter might have become friends, but witnessing it in person still left her uneasy.

Hillary couldn’t hold back any longer. She marched straight over and yanked Natalie down from the stairs. Natalie, you should be ashamed of yourself. Do you just enjoy stealing? You even dared to take my and Nancy’s table!”

Natalie stumbled, nearly losing her balance. Her gaze flicked away the moment she caught sight of Nancy standing nearby.

Winter instantly stepped in front of Natalie, glaring down at Hillary. Hillary? You’re the one who should be ashamed! The manager told you to get lost. Didn’t you hear him?”
