Chapter 100 Let’s Just Be Friends
Nancy fell silent.
Gideon looked gently at her. “Then, what do you want?”
She replied hesitantly, “I… I hope we can just be ordinary friends.”
He stroked her head tenderly with his large hands. “Okay. We’ll do as you say, then.”
The more Nancy observed his expression, the queasier she felt.
Gideon continued, “As long as it makes you feel at ease, I can go along with it.”
“Gideon…
Gideon playfully pinched her cheeks. “Don’t make that face. We’re friends, aren’t we? I’ll only be happy if you are.”
After returning home, Nancy entered the bedroom, then made a call to Hillary to share her
troubles.
Hillary was shocked. “Did he really say that?”
“He did,” Nancy said glumly.
“How’s that any different from a confession? I told you so, didn’t I? As I expected, he fancies you!”
“But I still don’t think it’s possible,” Nancy said with a sigh. “I don’t know what to do
anymore either.”
“What’s there to be troubled about? As long as you’re not being deceived, your parents won’t say anything even if you and Gideon stay friends,” said Hillary. “Don’t worry, babe.”
Nancy thought her words made sense. “Okay.”
“I, on the other hand, feel like I’m about to die of frustration.”
“What’s wrong?”
Hillary replied resentfully, “Do you remember me accepting Natalie’s invitation to star in her show? We’ve been filming it recently, but there’ve been so many incidents. Her script has been revised over and over again, but none of the revisions are as good as the initial version.
“I remember that you were the one who helped her write the initial script. I’m regretting accepting the role now, but the liquidated damages cost too much.”

Nancy frowned. “She did all that?”
“Yes. It’s gotten to the point that I’m even beginning to suspect she has it out for me,” Hillary complained in annoyance. “Forget it. I’ve already accepted the role, so I might as well get through the filming properly.”
“Okay. Good luck. I’ll visit you at work when I have the time.”
“Sure. Love you!”
The call ended, and Nancy soon went to bed.
Early the next morning, Nancy got up and realized that Ian and Freya had already bought
breakfast.
Freya smiled cheerily at her and said, “We’re ready to head back, honey. When will you be coming home?”
“I probably need another month or two to finish taking care of affairs involving the Lidell family, Mom,” Nancy replied obediently, looking straight at her.
Freya said gently, “Okay. You’ll be all alone here, so please stay safe.”
“I know. When are you two leaving?” asked Nancy. “I’ll see you off.”
“Our flight is scheduled for noon.”
After breakfast, Nancy sent Ian and Freya to the airport.
The Moore family actually owned a private jet, but it didn’t fly on weekdays.
Once they arrived at the entrance of the airport, Freya said, “You should head back now, honey.

Nancy was filled with reluctance. “Okay. You two should go in first, then. I’ll watch you walk in.

“Oh, you… Okay, then. You have to stay safe, alright? Call us more often,” Freya insisted, equally reluctant to part.
She walked into the airport with Ian, but right at that moment, a figure rushed toward them.
Raine stood in their way, panting heavily.
Freya once again felt a strong sense of dislike toward her. “Why are you here again?”
Raine stiffened, and the area around her eyes turned red. “I’m not the Lidells‘ biological daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Moore. I’ve already severed ties with the Lidell family.”
Freya was rendered speechless. “So?”

“So, could you take me back with you? I’ll definitely listen intently to your teachings and work hard to support the Moore family,” Raine said seriously.
