Chapter 10 Pretty Adorable
This neighborhood was the most expensive area in Riversdale. Every floor was a standalone unit, and each unit cost millions. Even the rent came at a steep price.
“Yes, Grandma. Thanks for the ride. I’ll get going now.” Nancy bade farewell to Martha politely.
Watching her walk away, Martha murmured, “It seems Nancy can get by just fine on her own without having to return to the Lidell family.”
The driver said, “Mrs. Lidell Senior, I, too, think Ms. Nancy is better than Ms. Raine. She’s real and never gives off a false air.”
“You can see it, but the blind–as–bats couple can’t,” Martha replied, her voice dripping with disdain.
Back at home, Nancy was surprised to receive a text message from Andrew.
It read, “Nancy, are you back home? If you want to move back to the Lidell residence, just say it. Your room’s always ready for you.”
That sounded a little fake.
Nancy replied with a perfunctory “Yes” and proceeded to reply to her friends‘ text messages in their group chat.
Hillary Morgan: “Nance, how’s life in Riversdale?”
Nancy: “I’m fine. What about you? Is shooting going smoothly?”
Hillary: “It’s going well! I just miss you, that’s all. Once I wrap up, I’ll come you
Yelena Hawthorne: “Count me in! Nance, my dad has been forcing me to work
Nancy’s lips curved as she typed out her reply. “Have fun at work.”
After they chatted for a bit, Nancy washed up and went to bed.
The next morning, Nancy walked into the elevator.

As she lowered her head, busy typing out a reply on her phone, a towering figure walked in and blocked the light above her head. She instinctively looked up and met the man’s gaze.
“Gideon?” Nancy could barely hide her surprise.
“Do you live here too?” Gideon’s voice was deep, and he carried a refined air about him. “Which floor are you on?”
“Yes, I live on the 16th floor,” Nancy replied.
“Mine’s the 15th floor,” Gideon told her.
Nancy glanced at the elevator. Sure enough, they were on the 15th floor.
They turned out to be neighbors, living just one floor apart.
It would be awkward to remain silent in the elevator, so Nancy struck up a conversation. “Did you come here for a project too?”
“Yes, I should be here for quite a while.” Gideon slipped one hand into his pocket, exuding a natural air of nobility. The light caught his profile, making it even more striking.
He continued, “Do you have a car? Do you want a ride?”
Nancy was quite surprised. Gideon seemed far more easygoing than she had imagined.
She had only just moved here and hadn’t planned on getting a car for herself, so she usually drove the company car.
Gideon could sense her hesitance. The elevator soon arrived at the parking level, so he said, “Come on!”
Nancy had no choice but to follow behind him.
His car was a black Rolls–Royce, which fitted his calm and refined demeanor. After settling into the passenger’s seat, Nancy remarked, “I had no idea you’d drive personally.”
“I’ve just arrived.” Gideon’s reply was curt, but Nancy understood immediately. He hadn’t hired enough staff yet.
As Gideon drove steadily, Nancy fished out her lipstick, touching it up in the mirror.
Out of the corner of his eye, Gideon caught the sight of Nancy tilting her head back to glide the lipstick over her lips, making her already plump lips look even fuller and enticing
“M”
Without warning, Gideon hit the brakes Fortunately, Nancy’s hand was steady, sparing her from smearing her lipstick across her face. She shot Gideon a puzzled look, and he merely said, “I’m sorry”
“It’s fine. The car in front of yours must’ve braked suddenly.” Nancy politely made up an excuse for him
Upon arriving at the company, Nancy grabbed her bag and got out. She thanked him courteously, “Thank you Goodbye.”
“Mm” Gideon’s Egaze lingered on her tall, alluring figure as she walked away, the corners of his lips curling into a faint smile.
