Chapter 5 

Mark had transferred some assets under my name. I quietly began moving the cash and stocks held in 

my account. 

Once my preparations were complete, I approached Flynn: 

“Flynn, Mark holds 40% of the shares, you have 40%, and I control another 5%. Together we’d outvote his 40%.” 

Flynn asked: 

“Planning to call a board meeting?” 

I nodded: 

“I need your support to combine our shares.” 

Flynn’s tone turned sharp: 

“What’s the point? I could just make him disappear.” 

I reasoned with him: 

“Mark’s still a Johnston. What if the family objects? I’ve got proof of his affair. Let me take half his as- sets and kick him out legally. 

The Johnston Group would be within your grasp.” 

Flynn pondered before agreeing: 

“Deal. I’ll ruin him. Leave him homeless, begging me like a dog.” 

I’d thought Mark and Sophie would lay low after Flynn’s return. 

Turns out I’d underestimated how low their moral compass could sink. 

Flynn had some business out today, so Mark rushed back from the company immediately. 

The moment he appeared at the doorstep, I knew exactly what he was up to.

So I deliberately said:

“Honey, I didn’t know you’d get off early today. I made plans with my girlfriends for afternoon tea. 

Can’t keep you company. 

Flynn pretended to be understanding: 

“No worries, enjoy your time with the girls. I’ll take a nap–dead tired.” 

I drove around the block a few times before checking the camera feed. 

Sure enough, another steamy scene unfolded–this time on my own bed. 

I drove straight home, tiptoed upstairs, and flung the bedroom door open. 

Feigning shock, I screamed: 

“Ah! 

Mark! 

What are you doing!” 

The two on the bed scrambled to grab sheets to cover themselves. 

I snatched my stilettos and hurled them wildly at Flynn’s face and body: 

“You bastard, Flynn! 

How dare you bring a woman home to screw around!” 

I’d specifically chosen the pair with needle–thin heels. 

Putting all my strength behind it, I swung at Mark–blood instantly trickled from his temple. 

Then I turned my fury toward Sophie under the covers: 

“You homewrecker! 

Daring to seduce my husband! 

I’ll rip your face to shreds!” 

Sophie tugged desperately at the quilt. Mark threw on some clothes and rushed to block me: 

“Stop hitting her!”

I unleashed all my fury, hysterically pounding and screaming at Mark: 

“You bastard, Mark! 

How dare you protect her! 

Do you even have a heart left? 

Divorce! 

I’m done with this.” 

Mark pinned my arms: 

“Honey, calm down!” 

With my hands immobilized, I kicked Sophie square in the lower abdomen. 

She cried out in pain. 

I shouted at her: 

“Wait… why does your voice sound so familiar? 

You’re Sophie!” 

Sophie stopped hiding. With a whoosh, she threw off the quilt and sat up–her naked body glaringly ex- posed before me. 

Mark stammered: 

“Let me explain, honey. 

Sophie had an episode right after you left. This one was severe… I had to relieve her skin hunger. 

She’d have passed out from the pain otherwise.” 

I snorted: 

“Pass out from pain? More like pass out from pleasure!” 

Mark’s expression darkened: 

“Noelle, where’s your compassion? 

Sophie’s family. I couldn’t just watch her suffer.”

I stared at Mark: 

“Why didn’t she call your brother when she had an episode? 

Didn’t he return to America? 

Are you really that charitable? 

Why didn’t you become a doctor? 

What a sacrifice you’ve made.” 

Mark retorted defiantly: 

“Some things are more urgent than others. 

Sophie was foaming in pain. Waiting for Flynn would’ve been too late.” 

I’d finished all necessary preparations, done playing their game. 

I pointed at the camera hidden behind the foliage: 

“Enough acting, both of you. 

I’ve recorded every moment of your affair. 

Urgent matters? Foaming pain? Do you think I’m an idiot?” 

Sophie panicked, forgetting her nakedness as she scrambled toward the plants. Her face paled when she saw the device. Trembling, she told Mark: 

“There really is a tiny camera.” 

crouched down, clawing at his hair in frustration with heavy sighs.
