Chapter 6

When the onlookers heard what Hayden said, they started to look at Jeremy and Rebecca in a different light. Those who had spoken up for them just now began to look at them in disdain.

“It seems like they were the real scumbags all along. They slandered her despite cheating first. How disgusting!”

“I shouldn’t have spoken up for them. Goddess, please forgive me!”

When I saw the couple’s complicated expression, I decided to add fuel to the fire. “Jeremy, how dare you come and question me? You’re the one who impregnated your childhood sweetheart, interrupted the ceremony, and broke my heart. The moment you left the altar, we were finished.”

Jeremy replied anxiously, “Shirley, what happened between Rebecca and me was just an accident! I only have eyes for you. She’s just someone I protect out of habit.

“Her pregnancy was an accident. I swear to the Moon Goddess that my fated mate will only be you. Even the pup will only acknowledge you as their mother.”

I sneered. “I understand. The two of you have already known each other for over a decade. It must have been difficult to control your feelings.

“However, I’ll pass on being the pup’s stepmother. I’ll give you my blessing and pray you guys won’t show up in my life ever again.”

After saying that, I tugged Hayden along and left. I would never return to this shop again.

Hayden followed at my side, slipping an arm around me to comfort me. “I’ve picked out several more places. That one lacks class and doesn’t deserve your time.”

We had barely taken a few steps when Jeremy’s voice rang out from behind us.

“Shirley, are you doing all of this to provoke me? Did you hire this man to put on a show with you? You were so deeply in love with me. I don’t believe you’d truly become someone else’s mate. I’m the one you’re fated to be with.”

While saying that, Jeremy had already closed the distance.

Hayden sneered, pulling me slightly behind him and undoing two buttons at his collar, I could only press my palm to my forehead helplessly.

Hayden was never the patient type. He had fought more than his share of battles since childhood. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have earned the loyalty of other werewolves, built a new pack, and led it.

He had been holding himself back for my sake. However, there was no stopping him after being provoked by Jeremy.

When Hayden saw that I didn’t stop him, he strode forward and punched Jeremy in the face.

“I’ve tolerated you long enough, you bastard! We’ve protected her all this time. How dare you treat her like this? This is exactly what you deserve, after shattering her heart and striking at her.”

Rebecca’s shrill cry pierced the air when she saw Jeremy hitting the ground. She clutched her belly and rushed up to him. “Are you okay?

Jeremy wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and shook his head.

When Rebecca saw that, she shot me a tearful look. “Shirley, whose side are you on? Are you going to let the stranger beat up your mate?”

Hayden and I laughed at the same time.

Hayden glanced at me affectionately before replying smugly, “Mate? That’s already in the past. If you don’t believe me, just catch a whiff of Shirley’s scent and see if you can still smell anything.”

Jeremy paused for a moment before closing his eyes. A minute later, he opened his eyes in disbelief. The color had already drained from his face.

“How could this be? You guys are already mates? I don’t believe this. There’s simply no way you would leave me. You loved me so much!” he shouted.

Jeremy tried to stand up and approach me for an answer.

Suddenly, Rebecca clutched her belly painfully. “Jeremy, m-my stomach hurts. It’s so painful…”

Jeremy could only turn around to check on her with gritted teeth.

I took the opportunity to pull Hayden away. The latter turned back to look at them with an unreadable gaze.
