Chapter 5 

Rebecca looked straight at me, and a glint flashed in her eyes when she saw how shocked I was. A few seconds later, Jeremy also looked over. 

Jeremy’s expression darkened when he saw me. “Shirley, how dare you show up? I told you to stay home and reflect, but you snuck out to shop. 

“If you can’t do as I say, there’s no need for the ceremony to happen. I’ll get the Moon Goddess to pick another mate for me.” 

While saying that, Jeremy rushed up to me and tried to tug the ring off my finger. 

I stepped aside and handed the ring back to the employee. “Please hold this for me. I want my mate to try on the men’s version. Also, show me some other designs while you’re at it.” 

When Hayden and I had just arrived at the shop, he received a phone call. Thus, he told me to come inside first so I wouldn’t have to wait in the heat. 

I ignored Jeremy and tried on another ring. 

However, he went berserk and clamped on my wrist. He yanked the ring off with no regard for my reddened hand or for injuring me. 

“Shirley, did you not understand what I said? I told you not to buy it!” 

At that moment, Rebecca walked over, holding her waist. She said gently, “Jeremy, I’m a bit tired. Since we already bought our ring and our pup’s gifts, we should head back.” 

Immediately, everyone at the store turned to look at me with pointed fingers. 

“Oh my goodness. His mate is here, and she’s even with pup. That must be the mistress. How shameless can she be?” 

“Unbelievable. Aren’t wolf mates supposed to be fated? How can he cheat?” 

“She must have come to provoke them. No wonder he’s furious. Honestly, how can she do something like this?” 

I stared right at Rebecca, knowing she had done it on purpose. 

Rebecca didn’t even bother to hide it. She glanced at Jeremy before grabbing my hand. “It’s a special day for us. Stop making a scene. Don’t you feel embarrassed? 

“Besides, what Jeremy ever did was talk to you. He never intended to mate you. Our pup is going to be born soon. Are you still going to pester us? 

“If you really want a ring, I can gift you mine. If you don’t like the design, I can purchase you another one. Is that okay?”

I looked toward Jeremy. However, he didn’t dare to reveal the truth that I was his mate with so many 

onlookers. 

Even the shop employees looked at me hesitatingly. 

Jeremy’s grip on my wrist tightened as he tried to drag me out, but I jerked free. 

I sneered. “Jeremy, what does my buying a ring have to do with you? When did I ever say I wanted to be your mate? It’s my freedom to buy what I like. It has nothing to do with you, so stop ruining my mood!” 

Jeremy also jeered, “Sure. Since it has nothing to do with me, there’s no need for us to hold a ceremony with the Moon Goddess. Let’s see who would want you as their Luna!” 

After saying that, Jeremy loosened my wrist and shoved me. 

Just as I was about to fall, a pair of hands caught me. “My Luna, I’m sorry that I’m late.” 

I managed to steady myself and shot Hayden a reassuring glance. “I’m fine.” 

In the next second, I heard Jeremy’s angered voice. “Luna? Did you finish the ceremony with someone else? Don’t you need to give me an explanation?” 

I rolled my eyes at him. “Explanation? Who do you think you are? Why should I even explain to you? If I remember correctly, we ended things yesterday. Do you need me to remind you?” 

Jeremy’s expression turned grim as he spoke. “I didn’t agree to it. Who gave you the right to decide on your own? Besides, it has only been a day since we broke up. Yet, you’re already mated to another wolf. Are you that desperate?” 

Rebecca added, “No matter what happened, you guys have been dating for several years. Aren’t you being too heartless to break up with him like that? Plus, you even mated with a stranger. How could you treat Jeremy like that?” 

This couple sure was good at twisting the truth. 

I didn’t wish for so many people to witness my humiliation, but Hayden didn’t share the same opinion. He glanced at me coldly. “Shirley, you’re the one who has been wronged. Are you going to let them be?” 

After he had marked me, I could understand the meaning behind his words more easily. I found myself nodding in agreement. 

Hayden smiled at the couple. “Shirley and I are blessed and acknowledged by the Moon Goddess, unlike 

you two. 

“One has no sense of morality and sired a pup with someone who wasn’t his mate, while the other shamelessly bore the pup. What you’ve done is an affront to the Moon Goddess herself. Aren’t you afraid of the punishment that awaits?”
