“Besides, we didn’t expect Chloe to hurt herself
like this to spite Zach!”
She pretended to wipe away a few tears.
く
Seeing Rhonda’s continued insinuations, Kiki
exploded.
She stepped forward, slapping Rhonda across
the face.
“You love picking up other people’s leftovers.
Chloe and I don’t want anything to do with you!
I wish you three could rot together and live
happily ever after! Stay away from us!”
Rhonda screamed, tears welling up.
“Kiki! How can you just hit someone?! As
Ethan’s girlfriend, shouldn’t you control
yourself, avoid giving him bad press?!”
“I was really sick that day, Ethan and Zach
came to help me out of friendship! If you’re
upset, I’ll kneel and apologize. Just calm down!”
She made a move to kneel.
But Zach didn’t move to help her up.
Rhonda looked back at him in surprise.
Zach was staring at something that had rolled
out of Kiki’s grocery bag-a bag of gummy
candies.
I had always taken care of Zach’s daily needs.
I considered it my duty as his fiancée.
He was always busy with work, often skipping
meals.
So I’d put a bag of gummy candies in his
briefcase.
I once told Zach,
<
When I was a child, I hated being sick.
I was a scaredy-cat.
But as a child, I was always sick, constantly
needing shots and medicine.
Whenever I cried,
My mom would slip a candy into my mouth.
These candies were more than just comfort.
They were a symbol of love and companionship.
Zach, though annoyed, accepted the candy.
