Zachary and Jessica soon entered the grocery store. He pushed a shopping cart while she tagged along next to him. 

After selecting some seasonings and vegetables, Jessica came to a stop in front of the cilantro section. 

Zachary gave her a sidelong glance. “Are you thinking of having those?” 

“I don’t know. I feel like I can give it a try now.” 

Jessica was reminded of the whiff of cilantro that she caught from Zachary that morning. It hadn’t felt particularly revolting. 

Zachary pursed his lips and nodded, then subtly rubbed his nose. Thereafter, he picked up a fresh bunch of cilantro in a serious manner and placed it into their cart. 

When they were almost done with their shopping, he pushed the cart toward the snacks section, where he grabbed lots of snacks such as potato chips, yogurt, biscuits, and more. 

“Do you love snacks, too?” Jessica asked. 

“Just stocking them up for you. But don’t snack too much. They’re not good for your digestive system.” 

Zachary wasn’t a fan of snacks. He simply noticed a rack in the living room that was filled with 

snacks. 

According to Mary, Jessica hadn’t eaten at home very often in the last two weeks. She hadn’t had time to buy more snacks when her stash was running low. Since Jessica hadn’t been home that often, Mary had more time on her hands. 

Thus, Mary seized this opportunity to get some time off. 

Meanwhile, Jessica was focused on working on Zachary’s clothes for the past two weeks. 

Jessica pressed her lips together slightly. Earlier, she was still pondering whether to get some snacks. At the same time, she was worried that Zachary would nag at her. 

But it seemed she was allowed to grab those snacks openly. 

When it was time to pay for the groceries, Jessica was the one who paid the bill while the staff stared coldly at Zachary. Despite his decent appearance, he was absolutely clueless. 

Jessica knew what the look on the staff’s face meant. Nonetheless, she decided to let it go. After all, Zachary rarely went home, and these were for her and her alone. 

They didn’t cost much anyway, and she could afford to pay for them. 

But just as she took her phone out, Zachary grabbed her phone, clicked into her default payment setting, and selected his supplementary card. 

While Jessica was taken aback momentarily, he had tapped to pay. 

A notification pinged on his phone in his pocket. “You never use my card at all, making it look like I married into your family.” 

Upon saying that, he returned her phone to her, picked up the grocery bags, and headed for the exit. 

The cashier giggled discreetly. 

Jessica followed behind Zachary compliantly. 

“It’s still early. Would you like to shop around?” Zachary asked. 

“Sure.” 

She snuck a peek at him and continued, “Do you want to put all those groceries in the car first? It’ll be quite tiring to carry them around.” 

“How would I be able to carry you in the future if I can’t even lift these few bags of groceries?” 

“Seems like I should’ve bought more, then,” Jessica remarked, pursing her lips. 

Back when she used to rent a place of her own, Derrick always came over for mealtimes with her. Whenever they bought groceries, she’d pick out the groceries while he just watched her 

from afar. 

He would also often compare the vegetables from the grocer’s with the organic vegetables he had at home, expressing his disdain for the former. 

When they ate the dishes that were prepared after returning to her place, he would make mocking comments yet again, only letting it go when Jessica agreed with his opinions. 

Boutiques were on the third floor of the department store, and there was nothing much to shop for there. So, Zachary and Jessica went up to the fourth floor, where most of the 

accessory stores were. 

“About that brooch you gave me–you made it yourself, didn’t you?” Jessica asked. 

“Yeah.” 

“How does a man like you know how to make such a thing?” 

Not only was it time–consuming to make a brooch like this, but it required effort, too. 

Moreover, Zachary was someone with severe short–sightedness. 

“All I had to do was learn.” 

“Do you feel like I’m hard to impress?” Jessica asked, finding a bench to sit on. 

She had not yet pulled herself out of her previous relationship completely. Sometimes, she might even affect him with her own emotions. 

Even so, Zachary didn’t mind it at all. 

He placed the grocery bags aside and sat down next to her, his eyes drawn to the pair of heels she was wearing. 

When Jessica noticed his gaze, she shifted her feet toward herself. 

“You’re not difficult to love. You just need someone who cares enough to put their heart into it,” Zachary answered. 

He was right. There was no such thing as being difficult to love. 

Upon saying that, he got down on one knee before her, picked her left foot up, and removed her black, high–heeled shoe. 

Startled, Jessica pulled her foot back slightly. 

“Don’t move.” 

He massaged her ankle through her sheer, nude–colored stockings, catching a faint glimpse of a fiery red pedicure hidden beneath. 

That was surprising. He didn’t think that she had such fire in her.
