Chapter 57
After saying goodbye to Eric, Jessica headed toward the back entrance of the venue.
Just then, Evelyn happened to walk by behind her. She noticed Jessica and didn’t see Zachary, so she couldn’t help but glance over a couple more times.
“Jess!”
A youthful, warm voice called out from behind her at this moment. Jessica slowed down and turned to look.
Leaning against one of the big columns was a tall, lean man. He wore a white tracksuit with a black wool coat draped over it. He looked a bit older than a college student, but still gentle and
calm
“Robert!” Jessica exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy as she walked over. “What are you doing here?”
The man, Robert Fulton, patted her head, smiling. “Still as adorable as ever.”
Meanwhile, Evelyn quietly snapped a few photos of the moment.
“Didn’t we agree to meet at your place? Why are you here?” Jessica asked, tilting her head up. And boy, have you grown taller.”
Robert looked to be about six feet and three inches, probably just as tall as Zachary.
“I heard from my mom that you were coming to our place, but Elsa told me you were here, so I
came.”
His lips curved into a gentle, warm smile.
“Did you drive here?” Jessica asked.
“I did. Let’s go. The car’s over there,” Robert replied, casually reaching out to drape his large hand over her shoulder and leading her toward a white car parked ahead.
“Hey, we’re adults now, Robert. Please behave,” she joked playfully, but firmly pushed his hand away.
He tapped on her head. “Look at you. All grown up now, huh?”
Jessica touched her head, not daring to speak more. Instead, she urgently sent a text in the group chat, “Nobody tells Robert that I’m married.”
“Got it, Sneaky Jess,” Elsa replied.
“Why not? Isn’t it great news that you’re married?” Shirley asked.

“The less people know, the better. It’s just not the right time yet,” Jessica explained.
Other than her three close friends and a few family members, no one else knew about her
marriage.
Robert was a well–known haute couture designer back in the country. Tons of women were around him all the time. He, too, was here for Fashion Week in Sylvaria.
His mother used to be Jessica’s teacher, and they had been close back in the day. After growing up, they barely kept in touch. So, it was surprising to run into him today.
“Hey, Zachary. Looks like your kid ran off to play,” Evelyn texted Zachary, attaching four photos she had snapped earlier.
One was of Jessica and Robert hugging, one with his hand on her head, another of him opening the passenger door for her, plus a clear shot of the license plate.
Zachary, who was lounging at the hotel, tapped the images open. Then, a frown formed on his
face.
He zoomed in and saw Jessica smiling extremely charmingly. The man beside her looked completely smitten, as if his eyes were only for her.
Still, in the photo where he was patting her head, Zachary could tell that Jessica was subtly pulling away.
He knew exactly what Evelyn was trying to achieve by sending those photos, so he ignored her. Instead, he opened his phone and read a recent message from Jessica.
“Having lunch with Elsa and the girls at a friend’s place. Don’t wait for me. I’ll be back tonight.

Zachary rubbed his temples, set his papers down, and called her.
In the passenger seat, Jessica flinched at the sudden call. His caller ID, “Honey“, flashing on the screen, was a dead giveaway to her secret.
She panicked for a second, afraid Robert would see it. Still, knowing she couldn’t decline the call, she answered in a hurry.
“Honey?” Zachary called out.
Jessica swallowed hard. Did he hit his head against the wall this morning?
“Honey?” he repeated after not receiving a response.
His voice was so deep and smooth that it was enough to melt someone into a puddle. If he

weren’t a CEO, he could totally make a living as a voice actor. The market would eat him up.
She glanced nervously at Robert in the driver’s seat, praying he hadn’t heard a thing.
“What’s wrong?”
“I miss you.”

A blush spread across her cheeks like a rising tide. She quickly covered half of her face with her hand, asking, “Are you drunk again?”
“No. Just patiently waiting for you to come back.”
She exhaled a deep breath, feeling nervous for no reason. “Alright.”
“Love you,” he added.
