Zachary stood up and walked into the living room, where Jessica was already slumped over the table. Tears lingered at the corners of her eyes, even in sleep.Â
He wondered if she was crying for that man again.Â
He sighed and crouched to remove her high heels. Then, he slipped off his suit jacket and draped it over her shoulders. In one fluid motion, he lifted her into his arms, holding her like a beloved princess.Â
Her smoky eyes groggily fluttered open, taking in his sharply defined features.Â
“Zachary?” she murmured.Â
“It’s me,” he replied.Â
At the sound of his voice, she pressed against his solid chest, looping her arms around his neck, and burying her face against him.Â
She hiccupped, and the strong scent of alcohol hit him square.Â
His legs wobbled slightly, and he almost lost control.Â
“When did you get here?” she murmured.Â
“I’ve been here the whole time,” he said.Â
“Did you hear everything I said?” she asked drowsily.Â
“Every word,” he replied.Â
“Zachary…” she murmured.Â
“Yeah?”Â
She propped herself up, clutching his shoulders and lifting her head from his neck. Her eyes searched his face, taking in every detail of his expression.Â
“What do you like about me?” she asked.Â
Zachary carefully set her down, waiting by the car.Â
“I like it when you call me ‘honey‘ in bed,” he said, looking at her deeply.Â
He cupped the back of her head, pulling her slender waist closer, and kissed her lips deeply, tasting the lingering wine on them.Â

Jessica couldn’t muster a thought. Her chest tightened, and her heavy breaths escaped in shallow gasps through her nose.Â
She tried to struggle, pounding at his chest, but he wouldn’t let go. Instead, he tightened his grip on her. It was as if a little more pressure could break her in half.Â
With her heels off, she had to step on his shoes to keep her balance. Her neck ached, and her whole body felt tense and sore.Â
On the other hand, Zachary seemed tireless. Leaning over her, he pried her soft lips open,Â
taking her breath completely.Â
Jessica’s legs went weak due to his kiss, and she couldn’t quite hold her neck up.Â
She melted into his arms, letting out a soft, helpless whimper.Â
Outside, Blake had just pulled up in the car. Susan, in the passenger seat, glanced over. Seeing the scene, they quickly averted their eyes and rolled up the windows.Â
It was surprising to see Zachary lose control in a place like this. As it turned out, even a man so disciplined and restrained had a breaking point.Â
When Zachary finally let Jessica go, a delicate sheen of moisture lingered on her flushed lips. Her eyes sparkled with longing, and her expression held the unmistakable look of fulfilledÂ
desire.Â
Gazing at her affectionately, he gently traced her lips with his fingertip.Â
“Darling, you’d better not doze off on me tonight…” he said.Â
“I won’t…” she murmured back.Â
The kisses left her dazed and disoriented, and the alcohol only made it worse. Halfway through the ride, she was already fast asleep.Â
Clad only in his boxers, Zachary stood at the edge of the bed with his hands on his hips, watching Jessica sprawled across the mattress, completely unconscious.Â
He bent down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.Â
“You little devil…” he murmured, glancing down at her curves one last time before turning and walking into the bathroom.Â
The next morning, Jessica sat up, holding her neck as a wave of dizziness hit her. Her neck felt stiff and sore, like it had been slept on awkwardly.Â

A tingling sensation ran across her lips, and even the tip of her tongue felt numb.Â
All of last night’s events replayed vividly in her mind.Â
“Fuck!” she cursed, pressing her hands to her face.Â
Zachary had to think she was scandalously bold. No woman could be so shameless as to say the things she’d said last night.Â
She checked herself over, and everything seemed normal. She figured that nothing had happened last night.Â
She looked around the room to learn that Zachary was nowhere in sight. She listened carefully and heard nothing from the study as well.Â
She glanced at her phone, which was charging on the nightstand, and noticed a glass of orange juice beside it.Â
She retrieved her fully charged phone from the charger and picked up the glass of orange juice, sipping it as she checked her messages.Â
Zachary’s text read, “Good morning, Jess. I had to leave early for work, but I got you a day off. Make sure to drink your orange juice. The CEO’s office is being sanitized, so I’ll be staying home tonight.”Â
Jessica froze mid–sip, remembering how he had said he liked it when she called him “honey” in bed.Â
She instinctively touched her lips. They were still tingling from his kiss.Â
