Reborn for Love and Revenge
Chapter 41 Don’t Go to Anyone Except Me
Yvonne appeared out of nowhere, looking a little strange.
“That guy outside-who is he? Your boyfriend?” she asked.
Evelyn didn’t hide anything. “Just like you said.”
Her straightforward reply surprised Yvonne for a moment.

But she quickly shook her head and said, “You just broke up with Seth a few days ago, and now you’ve already got someone new? You really don’t waste any time.”
Evelyn shot back, “Alice is still missing, and you’re taking the time to grill me? Guess, you are not so worried after all, Mom.”
Evelyn realized there was no point in expecting anything useful from this talk.
Yvonne looked a little awkward. “It’s not like I’m not trying! I just… I can’t do anything!”
Zaid had returned and made one thing very clear-everything was open for discussion except anything about Alice.
He said since the police report was filed, it should be left to them. If they found her, she’d be sent back to the countryside to avoid embarrassing the family.
And if she wasn’t found, at least they wouldn’t have to bother their connections back home.
Easier that way.
Yvonne was fuming but stayed silent. Making Zaid angry now wouldn’t help her at all.
So all she could do was sit there, stewing in her worry.
Evelyn decided to prod a little.
“Want a useful lead?” she asked softly, noticing Yvonne’s strange expression.
After what happened with Jasmine, Yvonne was cautious. “You want money again, don’t you?”
“Exactly. I’m about to start working-gotta grease a few wheels,” Evelyn said, pretending to count cash with her fingers.
She looked like a little schemer trying to get her hands on money.
Yvonne was furious.

This girl always had some new way to get cash out of her-she was going to drain her completely.
This time, Evelyn asked for 50 dollars again!

Noticing Yvonne’s hesitation, Evelyn didn’t press. “Fine, never mind. Honestly, I’m not that eager to track down Alice. You know how she is-she’d just cause more trouble for
me, and
I’m over it.”
“You really know something about Alice?” Yvonne asked.
Evelyn’s laid-back attitude surprisingly made Yvonne believe her.
She seemed so relaxed-clearly she had solid info.
If Yvonne could track Alice, what was 50 bucks compared to that?
Just like before, pay first, get the information later.
Evelyn tucked the 50 bucks into her pocket before giving Yvonne the tip.
Nobody had found Alice because she hadn’t bought her ticket legally.
At bus and train stations, it looked like there were tons of scalped tickets, but it was always the same few people running them. If you were willing to slip them some cash and show them a photo, you might just get a lead.
Of course, if Alice had hitched a ride, there was nothing to do.
But Evelyn was sure Alice had plenty of cash.
She’d been spoiled her whole life and never faced real danger.
Suddenly flush with money, she wouldn’t rely on hitchhiking.
So asking the scalpers was actually a smart lead.
Yvonne still felt cheated.
How could that even be considered a clue?
If she had thought about it, she could’ve figured it out herself.
Evelyn was just messing with her-obviously trying to get some cash.
Before Yvonne could protest, Evelyn caught on to her thoughts and laughed. “You’re thinking

50 bucks isn’t worth this tip, huh? But honestly, without me, you’d just be sitting at home waiting for the cops. So, what matters more-50 bucks or finding Alice?”
Of course, Alice mattered way more.
Yvonne wanted to say so, but when she looked up, Evelyn was already gone.
Outside, Evelyn met Philip at the door.
He must have rushed over and waited a bit; his breathing had calmed down, but sweat still dotted his forehead.
Evelyn pulled a handkerchief from her pocket, ready to wipe it away.
Then, suddenly, her hand was caught.
“How’s your injury?” Philip asked.
Evelyn froze, suddenly realizing what had happened.
Quade must’ve spilled the beans-she’d just left, and Philip already knew.
Evelyn waved her hand. “It’s fine, really. Don’t listen to Quade-I’ll heal up in a couple of days.”
Philip didn’t look convinced.
He frowned, took a small ceramic container of cream from his bag, and held it out. “Let me put this on you.”
The little box looked pretty nice,
Inside was a thick, gray-yellow cream that smelled strongly of medicine.
Evelyn didn’t know much about traditional medicine, but she could tell it would help heal wounds and prevent scars.
No clue how expensive it was, but it had to be effective.
She thanked Philip and went to grab it.
But he held up his hand again. “Let me do it.”
He didn’t want her to miss a spot and mess up the healing.
Evelyn felt a little uneasy. “You really gonna put this on me here?”

“Yeah, sit on that bench. I’ll take care of it,” Philip said.
Evelyn didn’t move, a little smirk playing on her lips. “You’re serious?”
She looked genuinely amused, even bending slightly at the waist from laughing.
Seeing this expression, Philip realized something wasn’t right.

On the phone, Quade had only said she hurt her leg-he hadn’t mentioned the exact spot.
He’d been too anxious at the time to think much. He grabbed the cream his mentor gave him and rushed over.
Hearing her, he felt a bit uneasy and asked, “What, you don’t want me to help?”
Of course not.
The injury was right at the top of her thigh-there was no way she’d let him touch it, and honestly, Philip probably wouldn’t be comfortable either.
She didn’t say anything else. She just nodded and grabbed the box. “Just hand it to me. I’ll handle it myself once I get home.”
“Okay,” Philip said, passing her the small box.
Then he asked, “Do you know who did this?”
He sounded like he was ready to go after them himself.
“I’m not going to deal with it right now. When I need him later, I’ll find him and ask him to repay the favor,” she replied quietly.
The moment she finished, Philip instinctively gave her hand a firm squeeze.
It hurt a little, making her instinctively look away.
“Whatever happens, you come to me-don’t go to anyone else,” Philip said firmly.
His dark, steady eyes were full of determination, leaving no room for refusal.
