After Jasmine dumped that bucket of shit in the yard, there was hardly a clean spot to step. It definitely needed a proper cleanup.

Well, it didn’t,” Evelyn said. “But I wanted to surprise you and make her seem more sincere.”
Evelyn’s face was very serious, with no sign of a lie.
But Yvonne didn’t believe her.

Thinking it over carefully, Yvonne caught another detail. “Then why did you remind her it vas getting dark?”

Yvonne’s paranoia was simply due to her fear of Evelyn.

But today, she was only doing a job for money and didn’t plan to cause any trouble for Yvonne.
She wasn’t going to get involved in Seth and Alice’s mess. No point dragging herself down with it.
“It’s getting dark. How can the gardeners work? Besides, Dad will be home soon. What are you going to say when he sees the mess in the yard?”
The whispering was just to give Jasmine some face.
Whether Yvonne believed it or not, Evelyn was sticking to her story.

She walked past Yvonne and into the house.

When she reached the stairs, she intentionally held up the 50 dollars in her hand. “Thanks for the money, Mom. I’ll remember to buy you a pair of socks as a gift.”
Evelyn was so arrogant that Yvonne wanted to spit blood in anger.
Soon after, Jasmine returned with the gardeners.
She worked in the food business, so she met all kinds of people, which made it easy for her to find people when needed.
The Schmidts’ yard wasn’t big, two gardeners would’ve been more than enough.
That’s what Evelyn had suggested.
But Jasmine was so worried about making Seth’s situation worse that she hired five people to do the work.
The small yard was instantly packed.
Yvonne was dumbfounded.
She never expected Evelyn to actually pull this off.
The woman who had just been throwing poop and screaming in the yard was now busy running back and forth. She even bought a bunch of roses and planted them in the flowerbeds.
Irene came out after her shower.
She planned to pick another fight with Jasmine, but Jasmine struck first-snapping a 50- dollar bill into Irene’s hand.
She said she hadn’t meant to offend her earlier, and the money was for Irene and Victor to buy new clothes.
At the sight of the money, Irene let it go.
It was 50 dollars!
It was more than a year’s farm work in the countryside.

Yvonne agreed to everything, her head slightly lowered, looking obedient.
But the moment Zaid turned and went back to his room, the viciousness in Yvonne’s eyes surged up again.
Because of what had happened today, she had no way to go to the police station to ask for an update.
Seth had been locked up for five days, and Alice had been missing just as long.
There had been no news at all. If something had happened, the body might be starting to rot by now.
No. Impossible.
Alice had nearly 200 bucks on her; she could go anywhere. Nothing could have happened.
At this point, Yvonne hoped Alice had just taken the money and gone into hiding.
Maybe once the cash ran out, she’d come back.
Even holding onto that optimistic hope, Yvonne felt she still had to check the police station to be sure.
The next morning, after Zaid left for work, Yvonne once again told Victor to head out.
Victor asked her for cab money again.
“What about the five bucks from yesterday? You didn’t even go, so shouldn’t you use that money?” Yvonne was shocked.
But Victor had a point. “I didn’t go yesterday, but I got covered in poop for no reason because of you and Alice. Shouldn’t that money, be my compensation? Did I complain yesterday?”

He’d been gagging and retching from the stench, too busy dealing with himself to worry

Unable to get more money, Victor left the house reluctantly.
Just as he reached the front door, Evelyn quietly showed up.
Acting all sweet, she slipped five dollars to Victor. “Is that enough for the ride?”
“Yes, yes, my niece is so kind.” Victor’s face instantly lit up with a grin.
Only at times like this did he ever smile at Evelyn.
He took the money and left.
When he got to the police station to ask, there were still no clues.
It was as if Alice had vanished into thin air.
One of the officers tried to reassure Victor. “Don’t worry, we’ll do everything we can to find her as soon as possible.”
But Victor couldn’t have cared less.
He brushed it off and then asked, “Officer, is there anywhere good to eat around here? I’m starving.”
The police officer was speechless.
Meanwhile, Evelyn had headed over to Jeremy’s place.
As agreed, she met Walter at the entrance of the Cannon residence.
But when she arrived, Walter sounded a little annoyed. “What took you so long to get here?”
Evelyn glanced at her watch.
