Chapter 35 I’ve Found Someone for You
Massaging Jeremy’s legs took a full three hours.
Evelyn barely took a break; when she was done, her arms were numb.

Jeremy was so moved that he grabbed her arm and refused to let go when she was about to leave.
Tears filled his eyes as he said she was truly a good person.
Who else would spend three hours giving an old man a massage, not just once, but every day for a long time to come?
An ordinary person simply couldn’t do what she was doing.
But Evelyn didn’t stop there.
Since she had diagnosed Charles’ condition, she wrote him a prescription, telling him to follow it for a week and see how it worked.
Charles agreed without hesitation.
While Evelyn was busy massaging Jeremy, he had already called a friend to verify her identity.
She was indeed a graduate of Southville University’s medical department and had been assigned to Brookhaven Hospital. She was a promising talent and was highly praised by
everyone.
Although he had been suspicious, Charles now trusted and admired Evelyn.
I’ll take it on time. Thank you,” Charles said with a nod.
After giving her instructions, Evelyn left with Walter.
They stopped at a fork in the road to part ways.
Walter said his mentee was on his way to pick him up.
“Anyway, who’s your mentor? Is his last name Moore?” Walter asked.
Evelyn shook her head. “I don’t have a mentor. In my medical program, I only had professors and a counselor, and none of them were named Moore.”
Walter looked into her eyes and was sure she wasn’t lying.

He was disappointed and confused.
Being so careful and honest about her intentions were all the traits his senior had.
He had thought that Evelyn might be his senior’s mentee.
What a pity.
If she were, he could finally find his senior.
He couldn’t help feeling a little down.
Evelyn saw the bus in the distance.
She said goodbye to Walter. “I’m going to that bus stop. See you tomorrow.”
They agreed to go to Jeremy’s house together every day for treatment from now on.
Walter waved at Evelyn. “Okay, see you tomorrow.”
But he was still thinking about his senior, feeling dejected for a while.
When he finally snapped out of it, his mentee’s car was already there.

He didn’t need to honk-when the car stopped, Walter instinctively opened the door and got
“Your nose is still sharp.”
Walter said proudly, “You always have a special scent on you, kid. My nose has smelled blood for a lifetime, so it’s very sensitive.”
Special scent on me?
The mentee sniffed himself. “I just smell sweat.”
How could you smell it yourself?
“The recent military reports have been keeping you busy, haven’t they? You’re so worn out you can’t even smell yourself.”
As he spoke, he reached out to give his mentee a playful tap on the forehead.
But his mentee quickly caught Walter’s hand.
The two of them began to wrestle in the car.

In the end, Walter lost.

He sat back in his seat, panting slightly, and shook his head. “Philip Gibson, victory belongs to you young people now.”
“Then you should stay in the courtyard drinking coffee and playing chess instead of wandering around,” Philip replied.
Walter didn’t mind his mentee’s nagging.
He couldn’t help it; he was just too proud of him!
Four years ago, Philip had just graduated from high school when Walter took him under his wing. Years of constant training had made him one of the top members of the team.
Take this recent report to the unit, for example-Philip was personally received by the commanding officer because of the school’s recommendation.
Who else among the new recruits had such an honor?
Wasn’t it because Walter had a good eye and trained him well?
After basking in pride for a moment, Walter remembered something else.
He put on a stern face and lectured Philip, “You can’t just focus on military training. Falling in love is a very important life experience. I’ve found someone for you. She’s good-looking and very capable. If you two work together, you’ll be invincible.”
Philip cut him off before he could finish. “Not interested.”
Unless it was teaming up with Evelyn, he didn’t think anyone else was good enough.
His attitude made Walter furious.
“You brat, why aren’t you interested? You haven’t even met her! You have no idea how impressive she is. I almost thought she was my senior’s mentee. This girl would be a perfect match for you.”
Walter continued his nonstop lecture,
“By the way, she’s from your school too. I know her name. Maybe you two know each other.
It’s-”
Before he could get the name out, Philip slammed the gas pedal.
Walter was thrown back against the seat.

Then Philip pulled off a sharp drift.

“Okay, okay, I’ll shut up. Kid, slow down; you’re going to make me throw up!” Walter gave in.
Philip was perfect in every way, except when it came to love.
Evelyn was such a wonderful girl.
Walter felt that if she didn’t end up with Philip, her talents would be wasted on anyone else.
Although he thought it was a pity, Philip’s crazy driving stopped Walter from saying more.
Between matchmaking and staying alive, he chose the latter.
Meanwhile, Philip’s expression remained tense.
He had always respected Walter, but he couldn’t accept it when he heard him say he wanted to introduce him to a girl.
He was Evelyn’s boyfriend.
He had said it in front of the Schmidts.
Just for that alone, Philip would never let her down.
The woman he loved shouldn’t be let down.
The green pickup truck drove slowly on the asphalt road. The rice fields in the suburbs were green and full of life.
Walter lived right in the middle of it.
He actually had a house in the city, but he chose not to live there.
In the middle of these fields stood a retirement home, filled with old friends. They were all old but full of energy.
In this retirement home, they seemed young again, full of passion and hope, looking forward to a new day, like they were in their 20s.
Philip parked the car at the entrance.
“Remember to pick me at the fork tomorrow. I’ve got to help Ev-uh, that girl, treat someone, and maybe pick up some leads about my senior,” Walter reminded him.
