Chapter 32 Cruel?
Evelyn ignored her and continued to walk upstairs.
When Yvonne realized she couldn’t stop her with words, she grabbed her from behind.
“Evelyn, you’re so cruel!” Yvonne’s voice was twisted with anger.
Evelyn just pursed her lips and smiled.
“Mom, I don’t get what you mean by that.”

Yvonne couldn’t stand her playing dumb, so she laid it all out. She raised her right hand, wrapped up so tightly and already seeping blood, and held it out in front of Evelyn.
That was the trap Evelyn had set.
It was a heavy blow.
When she went to get stitches, the doctor even said that if her hand had gone in just a little deeper, she’d have lost it for good.
Even stitches couldn’t have saved it!
4 girl in her early 20s has such a malicious heart.
What kind of person is she?
Evelyn was surprisingly calm.
She looked up at Yvonne.
Before you call me cruel, shouldn’t you think about why your hand is like this?”
It was all because Yvonne couldn’t keep her hands to herself.
They had an agreement.
Evelyn would return all the negatives, but before that, Yvonne had to do something for her.
What that was, Evelyn hadn’t said yet.
That was the part of their deal that was out in the open.
But Yvonne feared the hidden part.
She was scared that Evelyn wouldn’t keep her promise, so she planned to strike first and forcefully end this negotiation where she was at a disadvantage..
But she never imagined that she would be injured by the trap under Evelyn’s bed.
A modified mousetrap with sharp blades that nearly cut off her hand.

Yvonne had suffered a huge blow, yet she couldn’t say a word about it. She had to swallow all that pain and anger in silence.
She couldn’t justify her actions.
If she hadn’t gone into Evelyn’s room, she wouldn’t have been hurt.
And even though she was hurt, she had to blame herself and say it was an accident.
If she didn’t, she would lose all those negatives.
Yvonne was full of regret.
“Evelyn, I can apologize for this, but …”
She trailed off, feeling that apologizing to Evelyn was a humiliating thing to do.
Luckily, Evelyn didn’t need her insincere apology.
Evelyn cut her off and said in a soft voice, “Mom, our deal is still on. But next time, I might not be lucky enough to guess what you’re planning, and you might not be lucky enough to walk away in one piece. What do you think?”
She smiled, but they sent a chill straight down Yvonne’s spine.
Yvonne nodded dumbly, not daring to make eye contact with Evelyn anymore.
When she looked up again, Evelyn was already back in her room.
Since the little trap had been triggered, she planned to dismantle it.
After all, Yvonne wasn’t dumb enough to stick her hand in there again.
But maybe she had another plan.
Like, she might try luring Zaid into reaching his hand in and then frame her.
Who knows?
Yvonne couldn’t be trusted.
Evelyn carefully wrapped the dismantled trap in old newspapers and tossed it into the trash.
The problem was solved.
This bule lesson would probably make Yvonne calm down for a while.
Not that it really mattered.
Victor’s arrival was already the start of Yvonne’s worst nightmare.

After almost losing a hand and then being hit with the news of Alice’s disappearance, Yvonne ran a high fever that afternoon and passed out.
Irene called Zaid.
But Zaid refused to come back.
He remembered what happened last time with Alice switching out the thesis.
He had been soft-hearted back then and forgave Yvonne in the hospital, but it led to a bigger mistake.
Sure, Alice was the one who did it, but as her mother, Yvonne couldn’t escape the blame either.
So he refused her harshly. “Don’t call me unless she’s dead.”
His voice was loud enough for Yvonne to hear it from her room.
She had just woken up when she heard those words. A bitter taste rose in her throat, and she blacked out again.
Left with no other choice, Irene could only ask Victor to take her to the hospital.
Victor refused. “I didn’t come to the city to babysit her, Mom. Since no one’s here to cook, I’ll just get my state ID and go home. No point staying here if I’m miserable.”
Just seeing Evelyn every day was enough to ruin his appetite.
But Irene wouldn’t let him go. “The paperwork isn’t done yet, is it? Just bear with it. I think we need to resolve Alice’s matter first. Don’t worry, if she won’t cook, I’ll cook for you.”
After a lot of persuasion, Victor reluctantly agreed.
They took Yvonne to the hospital, where she was given a shot to bring her fever down, then brought her back home.
It was a lot of trouble, and they spent a good amount of money.
Of course, all the money came from Yvonne’s drawer.
There was no way they’d ever pay out of their own pockets.
Victor even used some of it to buy a roast chicken and pork ribs. He sat on the couch watching TV, chewing happily,
Just as his mouth was full of grease, Zaid came in.
“Z-Zaid, why are you back?” Victor was startled and quickly asked.
Zaid didn’t answer, just grunted and went straight into his room without changing his shoes.
Irene looked thrilled.
It must have worked!

“Mom, why did he suddenly come back? Didn’t he say he wouldn’t return unless my sister was dead?” Victor was confused.
Irene gave his arm a light smack. “That’s why I called his unit and told them Yvonne was dying and that he had to come see her one last time. See? He came back.”
In the end, they were still husband and wife. How could he abandon his wife?
Anyway, the chance for them to make up had already been created, what happened next was up to
Yvonne.
First, let those two make up, then smooth over Alice’s situation. After that, Irene and Victor could finally bring up their own matters.
It was a hassle, but what could she do?
Irene thought about it, then shook her head with a sigh. “Victor, I’m going to make soup with that old hen in the fridge. Save some room for it, okay?”
“I don’t want soup, give it to my sister,” Victor said.
Before Irene could reply, he added, “Soup’s nothing special, just water. Keep the chicken for me; the meat’s the best part.”
Irene smiled widely with a face full of wrinkles.
“Okay, you really know what’s best. You eat the chicken, your sister can have the soup.”
The two chatted outside, and the noise from the master bedroom was getting louder and louder.
Evelyn was sitting upstairs alone.
She had heard Zaid’s car and knew why he had come back.
It didn’t matter.
Yvonne and the others had their ways. She had hers.
