Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Life was draining from my lower body, blood soaking through my clothes and melting the snow beneath me.

I was buried in the snow, unable to move.

I opened my mouth to call for help, but only broken moans escaped my throat.

So cold.

Around me, Kai’s crew was laughing and joking around.

Through my blurred vision, I could see Kai’s silhouette.

He’d been standing there with his arms crossed, enjoying the show.

But when he saw my face turning purple and the pool of blood beneath me growing too large to ignore, the mockery on his face froze.

He suddenly rushed over, his voice filled with panic I’d never heard before.

‘Blood! Why is there so much blood!”

‘Quick! Dig her out!”

Come on! What the hell are you all standing around for!

He screamed at the rich kids, his voice shaking.

Someone finally snapped out of it and frantically started digging through the snow around me.

Call the rescue team! Now!”

Kai’s voice was sharp.

He crouched down to touch me but stopped mid air.

He was really panicking.

Turns out he could be scared after all.

Scared I’d die here and land him in serious trouble.

“Snowmobiles! We only have snowmobiles!”

“Where are the keys! The keys!”

Kai’s roar was like a caged animal. He spun toward Scarlett.

“Scarlett, the keys!”

I watched Scarlett pull that single thread of hope from her pocket.

She jogged over with just the right amount of urgency on her face, reaching out to hand Kai the keys.

Just as their hands were about to touch, Scarlett’s hand gave the slightest tremor.

The keys flew through the air in an arc, disappearing into a crevice in the nearby cliff without even an echo.

Time seemed to freeze.

Everyone went rigid.

The only sounds left were the wind.

Scarlett’s perfectly timed gasp of horror.

“Oh!”

She covered her mouth as tears instantly spilled over.

“Kai. I’m so sorry! My… my hands are frozen stiff, I didn’t mean to…”

She cried those innocent tears, looking at Kai with perfect pitiful helplessness. “What do we do now?”

Kai’s face went deathly white.

He stared at that snow crevice, his lips trembling, unable to get a word out.

The rescue team would take hours to get up from the base of the mountain.

And the snow beneath me was already stained red across a huge area.

I couldn’t wait that long.

Just when I thought he might actually save me, Scarlett interjected with wounded complaint.

“Kai, you said you wanted to use this chance to fix her bratty attitude. All your friends are watching…”

“And after how she humiliated me that day, you promised you’d make it right…”

Chapter 4

He whipped around-not to look at Scarlett, but to lunge at me and grab my shoulders.

“Gia!”

His voice carried twisted pleading, his eyes full of struggle and desperation.

“Gia, just apologize! Apologize right now!”

“In front of all my boys, just say you were wrong! Say you shouldn’t have talked back to Scarlett!”

“You say that, and I’ll figure something out right away! I’ll get you down from here immediately!”

I looked at him, while my consciousness fading.

Even now, he wasn’t thinking about my life-just his pathetic ego.

I used the last of my strength to force out a few words from deep in my throat.

“Dante… save me…”

My gaze drifted past him toward the horizon.

“Kai… Dante… will kill you…”

But my threat only brought more unhinged laughter from the crowd.

“Hahaha! She’s still dreaming!”

“Wake up, Princess Romano! Your family went bankrupt ages ago! Your brother’s probably begging for scraps in some foreign country!”

Kai looked at me, his expression shifting from struggle to resignation, finally hardening into resentment.

He let go of me, his tone carrying condescending pity.

‘Gianna, wake up. You don’t have a family anymore!”

‘Your brother can barely save himself-he’s not coming for you! Right now, I’m all you’ve got!”

‘So, listen to me, just apologize.”

The moment he finished speaking, an earth-shattering roar exploded overhead without warning.

Dozens of red laser dots landed precisely on the foreheads of Kai and his crew.

A cold voice boomed through a loudspeaker across the mountain.
