After searching day and night, even deploying a helicopter, Nathaniel finally found Isabella lying by a shallow pool.
The moment he spotted her, tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.
Isabella’s body was bruised all over, her eyes tightly shut, face as pale as death. If it weren’t for the slight rise and fall of her chest, he would never have believed she was still alive.
He rushed her to the best hospital for treatment.
Passing by a ward, he saw Alexander feeding medicine to Ivy. Nathaniel stormed in, demanding, “Isabella hurt like this because of you? Alexander, how can you be so heartless!”
Alexander remained unfazed, his tone calm, almost indifferent.
“She kidnapped Ivy on purpose, trying to kill both her and the baby. I was just teaching her a little lesson. I just gave her a little punishment. There’s a shallow pool below the cliff. She won’t die.
That way, she won’t dare do something so heinous again.”
Nathaniel cast Alexander an incredulous, disdainful look and turned to leave.
After two sleepless days and nights watching over Isabella, she finally woke up.
Nathaniel went through the details of that day with her. Anger flared in his chest. “Isabella, don’t worry. I’ll make sure she pays for what she did.”
Nathaniel wheeled Isabella out into the corridor for some fresh air that evening.
They happened upon Alexander and Ivy strolling hand in hand. Alexander gazed tenderly at Ivy’s belly, eyes brimming with affection.
“Ivy, I’ve thanked my lucky stars countless times that we managed to save you that day. If
anything had happened to you or the baby, I wouldn’t know what I’d do…‘
Ivy inadvertently turned her head and saw Isabella on the other side.
A meaningful smile crossed her lips as she deliberately asked, “But Miss Miller fell from the cliff and her life is probably still hanging by a thread. Aren’t you even a little concerned?”
Alexander hesitated for a moment but said, “Nothing to worry about. She brought it on herself.”
Isabella’s head was spinning. She could barely keep her balance and gently tugged on Nathaniel’s sleeve. “Let’s go back.”

“Alright.” Nathaniel looked at her with gentle affection.
Alexander sneaked into Isabella’s hospital room that night while Nathaniel had stepped out.
“Isabella, are you feeling any better?” he asked, worry etched in his voice after days of fretting
over her.
But Isabella’s gaze toward him held nothing but disgust and hatred. “Get out. I don’t want to see
you!”
Alexander was taken aback. “I didn’t even hold your kidnapping of Ivy against you. Why are you angry with me? Isabella, I just wanted to punish you a little. I never intended to end your life.”
Yes, he only wanted to give her a “little” punishment.
He never even considered whether she might meet with an accident when she fell off the cliff, or if
she would land precisely in the shallow pool below.
Or even if she did, would the raging river sweep her away?
And even if she weren’t carried off, would the ferocious beasts in the mountains tear her to
pieces?
He thought of nothing but making her pay for what she did to Ivy.
At that moment, Isabella suddenly felt exhausted. She didn’t want to speak anymore. “Alexander, go! I will make sure the law takes its course, and it’s not for you to decide who kidnapped whom. Leave! Just leave! I don’t want to see you!”
As he was being pushed out of the room, Ivy came over just in time.
Seeing this, she hurried forward to intervene.
In the scuffle, Ivy’s fingers were painfully squeezed, making her fall to the ground. “Ah-!” Cold sweat broke out as she clutched her stomach, wailing, ‘Did I hurt the baby? My stomach hurts so
much…
Alexander’s expression changed instantly. He shoved Isabella hard.
“Have you had enough of causing trouble?”
