“You made me socialize, tricked me into someone else’s private room, even let them pour me drinks and drug me,” I sneered.
“Ms. Warren’s methods are truly despicable.”
The nurses whispered amongst themselves in disbelief.
Caroline’s face paled slightly.“I didn’t!”
“Dr. Sutton, last night the government officials who were waiting can testify that they did not see you-”
“That’s because the private room information you provided was false!”
“I really didn’t…”
I pulled out my phone and showed her the message I’d sent last night.
“Do you
need me to go find government officials to verify?”
Caroline stiffened.
She’d actually forgotten about that message!
Her eyes caught sight of someone, and she quickly grabbed my hand, as if to slap herself.
“Dr. Sutton, you have misunderstood me. I admit, it was my carelessness, I misread the room number. Hit me, it was my fault that you were put in danger, I am willing to accept your blame!”
I was about to pull away when Caroline tumbled down the nearby stairs.
That scene shocked everyone, including me.
“Dr. Sutton, what were you doing!”
Mr. Thorne, the director, and several other leaders appeared, having witnessed the fall.
I turned, instinctively explaining, “Mr. Thorne, I didn’t push her…”
“We all saw it, you’re still trying to argue!”
Lucas said, then turned to a nurse.
“Hurry up and check on her injuries!”
Several nurses rushed to Caroline’s side.
Lucas walked up to me, pointing a finger.
His face was disappointed.

“You have been in this position for three years, the dean has always had high hopes for you, and yet you… you made such a mistake.”
My hand clenched at my
side.
I didn’t say a word.
I knew it was useless to argue.
But this time, I wouldn’t just sit and wait to die.
