She immediately called Jaxson.

Cynthia had just finished reporting last night’s events in my private room when Jaxson’s phone rang.
It was Caroline.
He answered, his expression darkening.“What’s the matter?”
“Jaxson, why didn’t Dr. Sutton come to the company? I asked Dr. Sutton to discuss the investment project with you yesterday, but the government officials waiting said they haven’t seen Dr. Sutton.”
Caroline’s voice was laced with concern.
Jaxson’s brow furrowed.“Why did you let her go?”
“I… I had no experience, I was afraid of messing up, so I let Dr. Sutton go instead of me, but I didn’t expect…” she sobbed softly, “I’m sorry, Jaxson, did I mess up? I really didn’t mean to.”
Jaxson rubbed his nose bridge, his attitude softening slightly.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault. We’ll talk about the project later.”
He ended the call, then raised his eyelids.“Are those people now at the police station?”
Cynthia nodded.
He leaned back in his chair.“Go check if they have a criminal record. If they do, don’t let them out.”
At noon, I returned to the hospital.
Caroline saw me and approached, a worried look on her face.
“Dr. Sutton, why didn’t you attend the reception last night? The government officials were waiting
for
you for a long time. Where did you go–”
“Snap!”
My hand connected with her cheek.

The other nurses in the station were shocked.
I’d always had a good temper, working for years without ever losing it.
But I’d actually hit Ms. Warren.
And it was the second time!
“Wasn’t last night’s incident deliberately arranged by you? What are you pretending now?”
I stared at her expressionlessly.
Caroline covered her bruised cheek, gritting her teeth, and looked at me
pitifully.
“Dr. Sutton, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Are
you mistaken?”
