Just as I lunged to snatch it back, Linda grabbed scissors from a passing nurse’s tray and jabbed them toward her own lower abdomen.
Blood instantly beaded on her skin.
Before I could process what happened,
Bruce stormed over upon hearing the commotion. Seeing Linda injured, fury contorted his features.
He kicked me flat onto the floor.
“Betty Wright, have you lost your mind?
This is attempted murder!”
Then he tenderly lifted Linda, fussing over her half–millimeter wound with exaggerated concern.
Meanwhile, my freshly stitched wounds tore open, blood gushing from my upper thighs.
Bruce didn’t even glance my way, his eyes colder than I’d ever seen.
“Betty, I never imagined you could be this vicious.”

With that, Bruce carried Linda straight to the doctor’s office.
I couldn’t stand, forced to crawl with all my strength toward the nurses‘ station,
leaving a long trail of blood behind me.
By the time my wounds were treated, midnight had fallen. Linda’s video
arrived then.
On the hospital bed, Bruce pinned her down, kissing her “injured” abdomen and ankles over and over.
