“Are you here alone?”Ethan asked me.

“No,I’m with a friend.”

At that moment, Edgar pull over in front of me.

“Boyfriend?”Ethan cooed as soon as Edgar got down from the car.

“No…a friend.”I retorted but he smiled coyly.

“Good evening,sir.”I greeted Declan who ignored me and walked away with his client.

It wouldn’t kill him to at least reply.

Edgar,this is Ethan Bascon,my colleague at work.”I introduced.

Nice to meet you.”Edgar said as they shook hands.

Then he held open the door for me.

Shall we?”

grinned and got in.

As they car drove passed Declan and his client,our eyes met.

Monday morning,I walked into the company and I was greeted by a tensed atmosphere.

Ethan looked pissed off.

Good morning.”I greeted.

There’s nothing good about the morning.”He snapped.

The finance department made a major mistake in the project!”

How serious is it?”I asked,anxiously.

Last month,I had practically worked my ass off to complete the plan.

What could have possibly gone wrong?!

1 could tell Ethan was fidgeting as he shakily knocked on the door.

“Come in Declan’s voice rung the air.

We slowly walked in.

No one needed to tell us that he was beyond angry.

“Who took the parameters?!”He asked,lividly.

I gulped.

The parameters were all taken by Audrey.

I had asked her if she was fit to work on the project with us and she had assured me that she was.

Her mother had been in a critical condition last month.

She must have made the mistake.

‘Oh…there’s a problem with the parameters?”Ethan let out,frustratedly.

‘I want the person in charge of the parameters in my office now!This has caused a big loss to the company. We must have them fired!”Declan barked as he uriously undid the top button of his shirt.

‘I’ll go and….”

Mr Hudson,I don’t think it’s time to punish the person who made the mistake.I think the best thing to do right now is look for a solution to the problem.”

Audrey is my good friend.

Solution? How?”Declan asked,seriously.

There will be a bidding meeting next week. It’s too late to calculate again.”

There are still six days left until next week.I can go through everything again.”

than frowned and said. “Tessa, everyone’s got their hands full.I can’t transfer anyone to help you with this.”

I understand.But I think I can do it again before next week.” I pressed on.

can’t let Audrey get fired.

And what I’m offering to do will take a lot of time but I just wanted to do my best.

Declan growled. “In six days? Are you a robot?”

I never said I was.”

The office grew quiet and he glared at me.

lowered my head wanting the floor to open up and swallow me.

Well if you don’t finish up by Monday.Consider yourself fired!”

I shakily reached out and picked up the budget.

The two of us had already come off with a bad start so I’m pretty sure there’s no way I was going to last a few months.

So it’s better to let Audrey keep her job.

If I can’t finish this task…I’m going to get fired.

That was inevitable since the day my one night stand became my boss.
