Romina was taken aback, and after a moment, she replied softly, “You can’t judge a book by its cover. He’s actually quite capable, and besides, doctors have to wear masks when seeing patients. Who would know what he looks like!” 

“Others may not know, but you do.” 

Joaquin’s voice was deep, his face devoid of any extra expression. 

Romina didn’t quite understand what he meant, her brows furrowing slightly: “But I think you’re even better looking.” 

As her words fell, the man instinctively lowered his gaze, his curled upper lashes trembling ever so slightly. 

Seeing his reaction, Romina suddenly smiled: “Especially when you smile, you look even better.” 

Joaquin coughed lightly and quickly withdrew the hand he had braced behind her. 

As the man turned away, the corners of his lips lifted in a half–smile: “If Jericho heard you say that, he’d be jealous.” 

Romina let out a cold laugh and bent down to tidy up the cardboard on the floor. 

“Mr. Bowman, you overestimate my place in his heart. To be blunt, even if I kissed a man passionately right in front of him, I doubt he’d even bat an eye…” 

The man turned to look at Romina, his tone casual: “Oh? Is that so?” 

Romina picked up the cardboard indifferently and tossed it into the nearby trash bin. 

She didn’t respond to his words, but said coolly, “It’s a pity I wouldn’t do something so ridiculous, other- wise…” 

“Otherwise, you really want to try it?” 

Joaquin’s upturned eyes carried a hint of nonchalance. 

Romina was stunned for a moment, and when she met his gaze, she instinctively swallowed.

Seeing her remain silent, Joaquin’s smile deepened: “I didn’t expect Ms. Sandoval to be so playful.”

“Since you resent Jericho so much, why not find a man to make him jealous? Watching him and Nadine together all the time, doesn’t it bother you?” 

“I stopped loving him a long time ago, so why would it bother me?” Romina sneered. “Besides, I don’t have the time or interest to randomly find a man just to annoy him…” 

Joaquin said carelessly, “I think that naturopathic doctor from earlier is pretty good.” 

“Mr. Bowman, you’re overthinking it. Starting tomorrow, he’ll just be my colleague. I haven’t thought about it that way at all.” 

“If it really doesn’t work out, you can come to me. 

As soon as he said this, Romina looked up in shock, her eyes full of surprise. 

The man met her gaze without the slightest hint of avoidance. 

“Mr. Bowman, you…” 

Romina hesitated, unable to finish her sentence. 

Joaquin spoke in a calm tone: “Why are you nervous? It’s just playing along.” 

“I could play along with someone else, but with you, it really wouldn’t be appropriate.” 

The man’s expression suddenly darkened, but he didn’t reply. 

Romina felt that the atmosphere had become especially strange. 

Afraid Joaquin would say something even more shocking, Romina quickly changed the subject: “Mr. Bowman, are you thirsty? Should I get you a bottle of water?” 

“No need,” Joaquin replied coolly. “I just came to take a look. I’m about to leave.” 

Romina had no choice but to let it go: “Alright.” 

After walking a couple of steps, Joaquin suddenly stopped. Romina had intended to see him out, but hadn’t expected him to halt so abruptly.

Her forehead bumped into the man’s back, and even through his suit, she could still feel his body heat. 

Joaquin turned around and instinctively reached out to steady her by the crook of her arm. 

Their eyes met, and for a moment, the air was thick with a sense of intimacy. 

Once she regained her balance, Joaquin withdrew his hand and asked calmly, “Is the opening the day af- ter tomorrow?” 

Romina quickly replied, “Yes.” 

“I’ll have someone send you a flower basket the day after tomorrow. Wishing you a successful opening in advance.” 

“Thank you, Mr. Bowman.” 

Romina smiled gently, and when the man caught sight of her smile, he watched her for a long moment before finally looking away. 

It wasn’t until he got into the Maybach that Romina finally withdrew her gaze. 

Though both were members of the Bowman family, Joaquin and Jericho gave off completely different impressions. 

The former seemed cold and indifferent on the surface, but his actions were as warm as the morning sun in winter. 

The latter appeared callous and unfeeling, and in truth, he really was cold and heartless. 

Romina tidied up briefly and prepared to go home.
