“Mr. Bowman said he wasn’t feeling well and asked me to come take a look at him.”
Jericho sized her up for a moment, trying to glean something from her words and actions. But before coming downstairs, Romina had composed herself, leaving no flaws to be found.
Jericho looked at her with suspicion, then glanced around. “Where’s Joaquin?”
“He hasn’t come back yet.”
“He hasn’t come back, and he still had you come over?”
Jericho’s expression grew even darker, and his voice rose a notch.
Romina suppressed her nervousness. “Is there a problem?”
There was a hint of coldness in the man’s voice. “You’re certainly quite proactive.”
Romina ignored him and walked into the house on her own.
Jericho followed her inside and sat down across from her.
Romina only hoped he would leave soon, because she had no idea if Joaquin would come back or not.
If she kept waiting, her lie would soon be exposed.

Romina replied indifferently, giving a random time. “About an hour.”
“Joaquin said he wasn’t feeling well, called you, and you came right away. You’re certainly quite proactive!”
Jericho’s lips curled up slightly, his gaze sharp and fierce as he looked at her.
“Isn’t saving lives the fundamental duty of a doctor?”
Romina was about to speak, but a deep voice interrupted her.
She looked up at the sound, turning her gaze toward its source.
Joaquin was still wearing the same suit from yesterday, walking toward them with a lazy posture, though his face showed a hint of fatigue.
“Joaquin, you’re back? If you’re not feeling well, do you need to go to the hospital?”
Jericho quickly got up from the sofa and turned to look at the man behind him.
Joaquin pointed his chin in Romina’s direction. “The doctor is right here. Do I still need to go to the hospital?”
Jericho glanced at Romina but suddenly said nothing.
Seeing that Jericho remained silent, Joaquin asked coldly, “What did you come to see me about?”

Hearing their conversation, Jericho abruptly stopped in his tracks, forced to watch them go upstairs before turning and leaving.
After reaching the master bedroom, Joaquin sat down on the sofa and rested his hand on the table.
Seeing this, Romina was momentarily stunned. “Mr. Bowman, what are you doing?”
“Aren’t you here to examine me? Since you’re here, why not check my pulse?”
